yeah your right.but this new dme will be sensitive to any parameters changed.will be able to pretty much detect anything that is even to the slightess abnormal and record it.

I'm not worried. Tuners will find a work around so the piggies work.

Out of curiosity, why would you expect to keep your warranty in tact if you want to increase the output of the car by 30+ percent? I've NEVER expected to keep my powertrain warranty when I've tuned a previous car. That's the price you pay.

JB1 & SSTT from what I've heard have already passed the v81 test. No thrown codes.

Well, piggybacks work by fooling the ECU. All it means is that they might have to find out a new way to do it. Nobody has ever written software that cannot be cracked eventually.

Also, the Dinan tune is a flash. Presumably, that would overwrite any anti-piggyback measures in place (of course I suppose it would be kind of silly to flash to dinan, only to put on a piggyback). There is also the chance that they will eventually completely hack the ECU so the car can be tuned without a piggyback.

During the first warranty-mandated service BMW may replace the ECU on early cars. That would complicate the issue.

So you saying they are going to replace every ecu on pre 03/08 N54 cars. I don't think so.

Why do people keep reposting this?!?!?!....And why do people keep responding to perpetuate these threads?

Everybody knows, a bunch of tunes still work, and newer ones are in process to work around.

No offense Yanks, but don't make a The World Is Ending post, when it's inaccurate and already well understood. Keep that stuff for the soap opera E90 forums. (which you have this same post on)

None of us on this forum know how BMW will respond regarding this issue, corporate will decide, replacement of early ECU's would not be a surprise, however, with any luck, early buyers will be exempted. We shall see. Heck, all this breathless hyperventilation about monitored ECU's could amount to unwarranted worry. We don't know.:iono:

i am not making the post as a "The World Is Ending post".just providing information(from my bro who has an e90 and is on e90 post).gives people the opportunity to think of doing a tune with this new dme which picks up everything.more chances of getting caught and getting emissions and drivetrain warranty voided then us pre 03/08.

no offfense but providing info other than making it a "soap opera" are 2 different things.
