Okay after 1 month with the car I finally decided to stick the CF spoiler on. Took me about 3 hours (excluding curing time). I lot of time was waste over taping up the rear end. I suppose cause I hadn't used betalink before I had no idea how running (or not) it was, so I prepared for the worse. I shouldn't have bothered, but I did make the mistake of not removing the tape until all had dried....oh well.

Last two were taken after a polish and wax, so the paint clarity is a bit higher

I really like the look of the spoiler. Looks aggressive without looking like a shopping trolley handle.

I also took this photo a week or so ago when the old and the new were parked together

I've now done over 2150km, and absolutely loving the car. Doesn't feel like it has really loosened up anymore in the last 500km. As noted in the other thread I'm noticing some lag off the line, and still have a cabin full of rattles. Only another few hundred kms more and I'll book it in for the 3000km service.

Transport blocks are fitted to the suspension of all cars that arrive at the dealers.
They do prevent the suspension being damaged during transit.
Removed as part of the pre-delivery process.
I have seen a Perth delivered 1996 E36 come in for a service at 190,000 klms with the transport blocks still in place.

If your dealer has physical posession of the car they should be able to deliver it to you within 24 hours.
The whole pre-delivery process takes about 2 hours in the workshop.

Garage List
Looks good on the blue mate.

Like you I quite like the look of the spoiler, I think it really sets off the rear of the car nicely.

aussieracer, the spoiler looks good on that color. nice contrast i think. by the way, once my wife trades in her r32 for an e87, looks like we'll have a similar garage! great minds think alike or am i flattering myself....

I also find the car lacks response when cold.

Thanks guys for the compliments. I'm definitely 100% rapt with the mirrors. Rear spoiler is better than the standard on, but I'm still not sold on the look.

I have a spare damaged CF spoiler (caused by FedEx) that could be patched up and sprayed in LeMans Blue. I actually have a feeling it would look better.

I believe they are also fitted to temporarily raise the height of the suspension to prevent underbody damage when driving on and off the transport ship. The ramp angle can be quite significant depending on the particular port and the tide at the time.

Probably helps getting on and off the truck too.

Xmas detail

Since I'm sort of keeping this thread as the running log of my car - my Xmas detail is posted here:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223630

Since my last update I've done an oil and filter change. Car had done 4200km and the oil looked clean and black.

I replaced the oil with Motul 8100 X-Clean C3 5W-40 (BMW LL-04 approved). It was probably a bit heavier in weight than I was hoping, but it wasn't the easiest finding LL-04 approved oil that wasn't Castrol. Anyway I've had good experiences with Motul oil and brake fluid in my racecar so I thought I'd give it a go. As it turns out the engine oil now runs around 10 degrees cooler under normal conditions and about 5 degrees cooler when under "duress". I wasn't expecting that, and for $150 all up it seems like cheap engine insurance.

Tip for those changing oil themselves: yes you need a deflector in place to stop the oil getting above the underbody covers, but be prepared for splash back as the oil hits that deflector real hard..... I learnt the hard way
