Arthurs seat is short on the "fun" bits prof. Could be a good "social" cruise, rather then try out our cars on a nice bit of road cruise!
Sounds like a repeat of the past route is the popular choice, which is fine with me. Perhaps we won't make the wrong turn like last time! What about we give the spur (and hopefully the traffic) a miss, and come up it the way we went down, and either come down the spur then, or come down the reefton again? I love the spur when it's free and flowing, but it's the most god damn frustrating bit of road when there's traffic. And I've seen some people come off there, acting out because of their frustration.

You serious about track days? Let's do a join one with the RX-8 club in Dec at Winton. This way the Canberra and possibly the Sydney members can also come along. What say you guys? We can even possibly get professional drivers down there to help us.

PS, do you guys know there's a PI track day coming up in oct for those with CAMS licences?
$195 is a bit of a bargain + $30 for a garage

After three crashes this year, I well and truly have it our of my system. Only 1 was 100% my fault (wide at Sandown T4 into armco). Steering broke at Bathurst into Forest Elbow, but only after a d/head clipped my front wheel earlier in the race. At Calder someone spun sideways in their own space whilst I was 2 feet behind. So experienced TMA and Racesafe this year. TMA wonderful, but Racesafe has cutier nurses... :biggrin: Did I say that out loud?

swarm if you are referring to the practice day on the Phillip Island circuit site, that practice is for those racing that weekend only. Sessions are broken into categories.
PI had a track learning day on the weekend past. Only a CAMS L2 licence required, which is basically a piece of paper. No tests required to obtain. Next open sprint is Nov. http://www.piarc.com.au/?page=calendar I'm thinking of doing this one....

my mistake, it was the november date I was thinking of. Lost the PIARC bit of paper it was written on.
What do you need for the open sprint in Nov? I've currently got a L2 licence.

Usual basic safety gear. Don't need a race suit, just same level as Taka's Winton day. Car however will need a bonnet strap, fire extinguisher mounted and battery location sticker. Importantly it will also need a Log Book. That's the time consuming bit. But worth the effort as you get at least an hour of track time on the Saturday practice of the sprint weekend. Sunday isn't as good value, as you will probably only manage about 20 laps. Plus it is PI - a place perfectly suited to a 135!

Nope. I was last there in June. That could be interesting....take a wider line on exit? That said that ripple strip offers FA grip so I hate putting a wheel on it. In fact between T11 & T12 is the only place where running on the ripple strip is okay at PI - except in the wet :wink: Exit of T2 is okay too, but you'd have to do a significant double apex through Southern loop to actually need to hit it.
Anyway this is way OT. Come'on Melb folk, who is joining the cruise?

It's after the ripple strip, so you can run a bit wider. It was concrete, but they've put astroturf onto it now for less grip. I run into the ripple on 8 in the set up for 9. Though, that depends on how I can out of 7.
I'll start a new thread with the details of the cruise, we can roll call people that way.
