Anyone else told the 135i needs 3,000km service?

I forgot to mention when I picked up my car I was told to bring my car in for a complimentary (I'd get it free anyway via Corp Prog) 3,000km service.

Dealer said only because it has the turbos do they want to back to do a check up and light service. Didn't specify exactly what they will do.

I was back there today to get a slight speaker grill dent looked at and was told if okay with me they would replace when I brought it in for the 3,000km service.

Anyone else told the same thing?

I was planning on doing an oil change around then, but might wait to see what they do first.

Dealer advised me first service is at 25,000km. No sooner. Admittedly I was suprised at this.

I might look at changing the oil around 5000km though as I heard metal fragments can be present. But if the filter does its job properly then I dont really see any need to.

I was told 25,000km or 12 months - whichever comes first. I was told that with the last 4 cars. Admittedly the last 2 prior to the 135i never made it to 25k with me!

I already own a bmw an 07 X3 diesal I was told the car will tell me when it needs a service. My first service wasnt until I had done 32000km. I would expect that the 1 series would be the same since it does the same thing as my x3 when I start it. On the instrument cluster it says X number of km's before next service. Not sure if this applies to all 1er's

30,000kms is for diesels, petrols should be around 25,000kms

My car still says 25,000km, but since I average 11k per year, I always get it serviced before the car tells me. Helps keep the warranty intact too.

I'm just surprised that I've been told to bring it back at 3,000km, cause I'm not hearing it from anyone else.

I was told no service for 25000 km or a year. Being a pedantic ba#*ard i'm having an oil change done by Andrew on Tuesday (5000k). Doncaster BMW asked $495 for the oil change......

$495 to change the oil??? That can't be real. My local dealer just told me that they charge @ $180/hr. It can't take over two hours to change the oil. I think I'll be changing my own at around 5K. What spec & brand of oil do they put in?

It uses Cherman Castrol 5w30 synthetic- 6 litres - which alone cracks $100. Add filter and an hours labour and suddenly you can see the cost mounting!

Well if I have a repeat of the past three days, I'll be at 3000km in a couple of weeks

I'll let everyone know then why I've been asked to return it for a check up service.
