No golf-tee mod=more low down power?

So I did the golf-tee mod on my car a couple months back with a simple removable zip-tie and loved the added sound I got driving around town.
However, yesterday I decided to remove it just to see how it sounded without the mod. When I started the car up it was quieter, but when I got on it a bit a few minutes later, the car definitely felt faster!
So maybe I'm crazy, and I know people have asked techs who say it has no performance effects, but I challenge those with stock exhaust to try it out for themselves!

I'd be very supprised if it affected it at all... on a NA car, additional backpressure can help with tq etc off the line... however I dont beleive I've seen anything that supports backpressure after turbo is required at all.. (maybe a lack of experience, but I dont think so :iono

Every car always seems faster after you quiet it down a bit. It's all in your head. Nearly every car I've owned had aftermarket pipes installed. It always 'felt' fast when I took them off.

You're probably right, that makes sense. Well I'm going to keep the mod off for now, I'm enjoying the change and the exhaust sounds more refined (less rasp and burble).

I'll probably keep going back and forth in an attempt to draw my attention away from dropping $$$ into an exhaust system.

find somone who as bmw performance exhaust =) I unfortunately havent seen a single other 135i yet, let alone with exhaust, but can say even though I was hesitant to get bmw perfomace exhaust because it was known to not be as loud... Very very satisfied, very exotic sounding.

Turbocharged engines cars thrive off LESS backpressure. Period.

Less restrictions in the exhaust system the better...FREE FLOW ALL THE WAY!

So this means doing the mod could actually increase power.
