besids the bmw hi-fi Premium stereo system which it offers in bmw's option
any other audio system out there is ok with the BMW 4 year warranty?

BMW will not extend a warranty on a third party audio system. Besides, you can't really put another unit in, due to the direct link to the computer. But you could put a different AMP - check the DYI for examples.
