Anyone in Oz have a BMW Performance Exhaust
Just wondering if anyone in Australia has imported and installed a BMW PE. I'm thinking of it, but want to know what it has cost anyone else to do.

I don't think the intake fits the 135 without smacking the engine cover..

If Oldman is who i think he is, then i know he will not be getting a system from Hi Tech...lol
The Performance intake is not available for 135i The Performance engine upgrade is very very unlikely to happen. The strut brace hits the intake if you have a stock intake. The BMW Performance muffler states only a few Hp anyway, so dont look at rear muffler for Performance upgrade, mainly sound!

I spoke to one of the dealers in Brisbane and they are very happy to put it in if I import them. Does it affect the warranty though?

I calculate the price of the BMW PE to be US$790 from Dan at United BMW + shipping US$700 based on Fedex (box is 23 kilos) to Fedex pickup point in Sydney etc.
Would therefore be around A$2300 at the current exchange rate. Is it worth it for a muffler and a couple of bits of pipe??? Still deciding. |

Waayyyy too much $$$, I think you're better off with a custom pipe made locally. Plus you'd have enough left over for a JB3 if you're after performance!

Oldman, like I told you previously mate..Hook up with Bob and myself one weekend and you can have a private demo at a quarter of the price..
Ok...its not OEM but it still sounds pretty hot mate.. ![]() Better than the BMW exhaust IMO.

C'mon, for that sort of money, I want more than one dent which the PE has.
Me thinks I will need to go another route. Just imagine some of the other products like a cp-e catback US$1,500 would land here at over A$3,300 for much the same thing. (no dents though as far I can see). |

Well considering that Hamann do not have an exhaust for the 135i yet and if they did, they sell for around US$3000, I don't that's an option for me for either performance OR looks.

Kris has gone back to the stock exhaust system, he wasnt quite as happy with his sound as I was with mine. Kris's custom exhaust system is now on Bob' car. We did Dyno Kris's car before and after the custom exhaust and it picked up 6 KW at the rear wheels after the install.

I have noted that Magnaflow is due to release exhausts for the 135i in March and from what I've seen here, their cat back current systems retail here in Oz around $900-$1200 which is quite good, so I might keep tabs on that.

I am in 2 minds whether to replace the mid-pipes and muffler. On the one hand I would cherish the increase in power and nicer sound track, but on the other hand I am worried about getting the attention of the cops. My car has had a few things done afterall and may not necessarily be legit.
Two exhaust I have been really impressed with are the full CP-e one, and the one that Prof has on his car. Prof's is a custom cp-e mid-pipe (with race cats) and a dixie titanium rear muffler. Just don't ask about the price and you will appreciate how good it actually sound! ![]() |
