Is it me, or is the 1er really top heavy?

I've noticed that my 128i feels kinda top heavy when turning, and I mean doing 60 on a highway bank along with the rest of the traffic, the car feels extremely top heaving, reminds me of my suv.

i have a 135 so not totally a fair comparo, but yeah i kinda know what you mean. i guess it depends on what you drove before this.

a set of sway bars will fix that right up, tho be careful cuz it makes the car tend to oversteer as you approach the limit. dangerous if you don't know how to catch it

1's have a bit of body roll even with the sports suspension. The softer non-sport will roll a little more.

Does your 128 have the sport package?

I can imagine the 128 non sport pkg has a tad more roll, but like an SUV? That'd drive me nuts. Assume you're running 17s, a larger wheel can make a big difference in the perceived roll to a point.

Compared to my old E46 330xi sport, the 135 feels like it's on rails. It could be stiffer sure, but as my daily driver, it's the perfect amount of stiffness/comfort.

If you have a sunroof then I'm sure that adds some weight

135cic, no roll, tight as a drum.

But I agree, if coupe and no-sport-pkg, I could see the car having a touch of roll, but I would "guess" that it wouldn't be too bad.

So, does sport package add to roll or gets rid of some? Or is it just not much of a difference? I plan on getting suspension and the works anyway.

I don't have the sport package, just the premium package, on top of that I have a sunroof, OEM wheels and runflats, it's a pretty bad combination.

sports pack and non sport pack on the 135 almost seem identical...

A new set of non-runflat summer performance tires should make a huge improvement alone.

How do new tires (non runflats) affect the body roll, or the car not feeling top heavy

They don't

I may be wrong but I believe the non-sport 128i has softer springs than all other 1 series and it is either missing the rear sway or it has a thinner rear sway.

Sorry, I should have stated that performance tires would contribute to an improvement in handling. Performance tires with a stiffer sidewall won't flex as much when cornering, but you will still experience body roll unless you decide to change out the suspension.

Do you have 16" or 17" wheels? And are you carrying the recommended 32/35 lbs. cold pressures?

1ser feels exremely heavy. It has so noticable body roll. even my Benz has it much less. However I still like 1ser.

Sidewalls don't get much stiffer than runflats.... They're so stiff they can support the weight of the car without air pressure!

Does having the Performance Suspension help at all either?

the suspension on the 135i is crap, the tires and track are too narrow, and the car sits too high. I'm really having a hard time coming to terms with putting several thousand dollars into improving this on a car this cheap, it's a lot of potential down payment money on an M3.
