135i to Loaner 328i----- :(
Ok, Just got back from dropping off my car to get a headlight fixed and I received a 328i for a loaner. Now I am a huge BMW fan and do not beleive there is a better made car then the 135i BUT----- This 328i was made for a blue hair... It has zero power, its hard to get in to and from the steering wheel to tires it is not very high class.... Compaired to my 135i it feels like I am driving a bus...
For the price of this car I would be inclined to buy one of many others cars available.... I can not wait to get my car back..................... ![]() ![]()

LOL I got an 08 328i for dropping my 135i off as well. I didn't mind it too much, nice soft ride, and I got to extensively test out the steptronic. Dealer had my car for three days, so I got plenty of time getting to know it. In a nutshell? Although the automatics are easier to drive consistently at the drag strip, it can't replace the hands-on experience of a manual....

Everytime i have gone is for something they have given me, 325, 328, 330(coupe/sedan/wagon) Mini Cooper, Saturn and never a 335 or anything higher. And this is when i had an E46 M3 too. So don't feel too bad...it's whatever they have on the lot for a loaner. Some people even got Dodge Caravans or even Hyundai.

Automatic, base engine 3-series models without the sport package are the most boring cars to drive. Unfortunately, that how 75% of them are equipped.
IMO, those are for people who just like the badge.

I have to disagree. I had on 09' 328xi coupe for a loaner not too long ago and loved it. It's definitely not the same as the 135i but there are some things I did like better. I thought the headlights (with fogs) were better and more far reaching. The interior was definitely an improvement and the ride was more comfortable.
On the negative side, the 3 felt like a porker, the steering was nicely weighted but a felt bit numb compared to the 135i. There were time when the step had trouble making up it's mind (debating whether or not to downshift) and in DS the car would shudder coming to a stop (as it downshifted). |

I got an '09 335 xDrive (the new BMW way of saying things) for a loaner last week.
I don't like the (nav-less) 3 Series interior. The dash seems to stretch on forever. Funny how lots of critics say the 1er interior is inferior to the 3er.....I completely disagree.

really - i'm totally surprised.
I felt that the handling of the 328 was better in some regards. It also wasn't a slow coach as many of you have mentioned. Sure, the 135i (especially with tune) is quicker but not radically so during normal driving conditions. I actually really liked it. It also was far far more refined than the 135i. Perhaps I'm getting old (I hope not). |
