Annoying...Hum/Buzz from the center console anyone?
Hello All,
i have this low electronic ringing/ humming coming from my console. It is intermittent and I cant figure out when it happens. It seems to be electrionic related cause when I put the blinkers on or flash headlights the tone changes frequency in sync with the blinking or flashing.... I realized that this is the exact sound that I hear when I first start the car I hear it for 1 -2 secs and goes away.... but sometimes it comes back and stayes there... It is not the AC and not the radio...it only goes off when I completely turn off the engine... Anyone heard of this? My dealership is 100 miles away..there is a local dealer; however, will they be kind enough to fix this for free or will they give me a hard time cause I didnt get the car from them? Thanks Skimo |

Reminds me of a funny story. A few years ago my car had a buzzing noise from time to time. It only lasted for 3 to 4 days. I took it to the dealer and they found a cell phone wedged into the crevice of the back seat. It was pink with crystal blings on it. To this day, I don't know which girl's it is... About the buzzing noise, the phone was probably set on vibe.

Um...take it to your local dealer. It's a BMW...it should be covered under warranty or free maintenence ( i donno how it works in the Us- but here...i take my car anywhere)
I don't know what it is...It might just be the sound of the electronics working... When I hear noises in my car...I just turn the radio up hehe...My only problem is when the speakers start to rattle...but then bmw changes them (for free i might add- they did it thrice (3times) on my e46) |

skimo,
I'm having the exact same problem. The buzzing comes from the console area behind the CD player and DVD drive. The buzzing continues after completely turning off the accessories, AC, and removing the CD and navigation DVD. Did you ever figure out what was causing your problem? |

hmm, are you using your aux port in the center console? i notice that when i disconnect my ipod but leave jack connected to the port and the other end just dangles it makes a buzzing noise. but it comes through my speakers, so not sure if this is the same thing your experiencing.

I hear the same thing, even with both the CD and NAV discs removed. I have been told by people on the forum that it is completely normal. I have yet to ask a dealer if it is normal though.

I dont think it has anything to do with a speaker buzz...it comes from the center dash, where the cd and dvd (if you have navi) drives are located.
