Time to order?

I am still sitting on the fence as to whether or not I should hurry and order a 1er now or wait until the 2010s come out.

When does the factory shut down and stop producing 09s? (August? The entire month?

When is (probably) the last day that I could put in an order for an 09?

Thanks in advance.

I'm just curious as to why you'd like to wait for a 2010. You wouldn't be getting the car until Oct. or Nov. Are you hoping there will be new features or better deals?

Dont know if your asking me or Texas...

If your asking me, it is because I am not 100% certain what car I want to order. I am debating between 335i and 135i. I love the design of 135i but I hear there is going to be a facelift on the 335i so I am waiting to see how that turns out.

Plus 10 is my favorite number so 2010 would be awesome :-D

Yea I am still not 100% sure. Rite now I will probably go with a 128i but if I wait I may get a 135i. By no means do I want to wait till Oct, so that is why I am trying to figure out how much time I have left.

I am torn between 135 and 335 but whatever i decide on I will be happy...

On the other hand your deciding between 128 and 135 and thats a big difference. Should you chose to buy the 128 be 100% sure thats what you want...I made that mistake with my Celica GT, after I got it I wanted a GT-S and I regretted it for years

i have both the 335i and the 135i, and from what i can tell after having my car for 2 days is that the 135i is considerably faster than the 335i, the handling is much tighter and it is just more nimble and faster. however, this car is smaller in the cabin, as far as storage space there is TONS, plus the rear seats can be folded down. the 335i is more relaxed but still got some kick and more comfortable for passengers, but who cares about them. its all about my experience

Right now are you leaning towards one car more than the other?

I am leaning towards 135 because I like the speed and nimbleness....
What keeps me thinking about the 335i is its interior, I love way the trim goes all the way across the dash, and along the door to the rear cabin. (I hate how the trim on 135i is on the door handle and barely along the dash as if it were an after thought)

Also I drive a 2001 Toyota Celica and it is pretty skinny and she does not handle very well at higher speeds....The 135i has an even shorter (drastically shorter) wheel base then my Celica so that is something that is always in the back of my head.

Last but not least is the 135i M-Sport wheels, they are I hate them. While the 335i M-Sports wheels are amazing

first of all you must be high if you think the 261m's are ugly. they are

your criteria for choosing the car isnt strong enough to change your mind about a car. wheels can always be changed. you could probably even get the m wheels off the 335i if you wanted to. as far as the trim, who cares?

Garage List
1999 Z3 2.8  [5.00]
2008 128i  [0.00]
1998 318ti  [5.00]
I don't regret my 128. Plenty of power.

135 or 335. There is NO wrong choice.

But the 1 brings exclusivity in my book.

+1. Where I live, I barely see any 1s, and have yet to even see a 135i in the wild.

Cant put the 335i wheels on a 135i they dont fit, plus buying new M wheels would cost like 5K...

Those are all minor problems my real concern is the wheelbase (wider is better lol)

There IS a 335 facelift on the way - my dealer told me so (UK). There are 'specials' over here at present called highline - you get leather and some other stuff for a relatively cheap upgrade. BMW always do that here before a facelift to clear stock.
My dealer reckons its due September.

I used to want a 335i but when the 135i came out I never looked back, neither did I compare the two cars. Just now I compared the interior of the two cars on bmwusa.com. The 335i's interior in my opinion is ugly compared to the the 135i's. There are no curves, it's all rectangular. It looks incredibly boring to me.

Well i wouldnt get polished Aluminum in the 335i, I would go for Light Burl Walnut Trim on Black Leather...

The build you own doesnt do the interiors justice...download the 335i brochure and you will see how amazing it looks inside.

In Canada they have special incentives if you pay cash on the 135i and 128i this month. The incentive might increase next month as well but as you point out it is getting close to the cutoff point. Find out if you can save any money by ordering a 2009 instead of a 2010. If you can't then I don't see why end of production in July should be a rush for you, especially since you are still on the fence between two cars. Yeah you won't have the car for the summer but you'll have more time to save money for the 2010's and I heard a rumour that it will be summer again next year...

Just my own personal advice...never feel pressured to do anything you aren't ready for.

Order ASAP an 09! Just one reason, i recently saw a pic and the outside mirrors are gonna be the size of SUV mirros.......UGLY!! I will bet the 2010 people that the #1 mod is gonna be replacing mirrors to that of 08-09 ones.....
Another reason would be, when the car hit the dealers lot, you'll have more say in getting below invoice because the 10's are arriving

I would push for the 2010 model. if you delay ordering your car by a few weeks you'll have a car that is 1 yr newer on paper. plus i heard the 2010 models allow you to choose your own leather cross stitch which is pretty cool. i delayed my order to an 09 to get the new idrive. so glad i did in the end it was worth waiting for.
