C6 Vette called my car a Nazi POS.

I know racing stories aren't tolerated around here, but this one is just too good not to mention. I like going for drives in the late evenings because there aren't many cars on the road and I can just cruise around with mostly green lights. I'm in the far left lane passing cars at a pretty moderate speed and pass a C6 corvette. After I pass the slow leading car, I move back to the middle lane and notice that the vette moved to the left lane and guns it to catch up to me. The next light ahead turns red and we are both lined up at the light.

Now I don't ever instigate stop light races and I have no reason to see his tail lights anyways. But out of nowhere, the guy turns to me and yells out the window, "Have you ever raced that Nazi piece of sh!t for money?". I was shocked, but at the same time amused because the guy fit the stereotypical vette driver to a T. I looked over with half a grin on my face because I thought it was hilarious for some reason. But I had nothing to say to that so I just looked forward again and the light instantly turned green.

So we both drive through the intersection at a normal pace. I'm just waiting for him to go so I can see how I hold up against him. As we past the intersection, I hear him gun it and I'm right in the middle of my 1st gear powerband. I shift to second and have about a 2-3 car length on him. Then I see him gaining very slowly and I let off somewhere in early 3rd gear. When we reach the next light he had his windows rolled up and he stayed in the far opposite lane of me.

I was shocked by the results, but it really felt good to put the guy in his place for talking crap. I'm sure I would have seen tail lights from a capable driver. And yes, street racing is very bad/dangerous/etc. It was a long 50mph straight with no intersections or side streets (all cars were behind us) and I think I let off around 60-70.

You're positive it was a C6?

Don't want to bench race or anything, but here's some food for thought"
C6 Corvette
400hp 400lb ft.
3150-3300lbs

Do the math.

When done, C6 auto or manual vs 135i = 135i OWNED.

Yeah, his "Nazi" comment is very ignorant.

I know what a c6 vette looks like and I know I would lose against a capable driver. Just telling it like it was. I'm not driving a stock 135i either. FWIW, I've hung with a Chrysler srt-8 and a fairly new e55 amg as well in the past.

I see.
However, you're weight hasn't changed.

With the kind of power to weight the C6 has, the driver has to be terrible to lose. Besides, you did a rolling start to 70, hardly a "race", and you said it yourself, he was gaining. If coming from behind, yet still gaining, that speaks volumes for the kind of power to weight you're dealing with.
Still, yeah, he must have been a really bad driver. Being a dick sure didn't help him either.
I'm sure he tucked his tail after that.

BTW, I was just asking if it was a C6 to be sure. I wasn't saying you didn't know what one is.
An SRT8 is a pig. Big power, but big weight too.

Wow that funny. If I was in your situation I would have been a bit of a smartass when he said your car was a Nazi POS. Should have said, "What? This is a Porsche? I always wanted one of those!"

Anyway high five for the Epic Win man.

Vette driver was a dumbass, and on top of that couldn't drive for shit. Even a stock automatic LS2 Vette should run well into the 12s and give a tuned 135i a hard time. I'm not saying it didn't happen, just that I wouldn't go out throwing money down on it happening again.

I agree I get looks from vette drivers like our car is POS... I know in a straight line eventually we would be toast but with a decent tune and some mods its not a complete blow out...

You have to consider the upside. We can haul two more women than the Vette can.

Let's not knock one of the best things about the American auto industry.
The Vette is iconic throughout the world due to how well it can perform and out perform much of the machinery from Europe and Japan, and do it with a much lower price point.

GM and the Corvette have as much to do with that idiot as BMW has to do with the drivers who buy the BMW brand, and then think they are cooler than the Vette owner just because of the name/brand on their car.

The Vette is a drivers car pure and simple, just like most BMW's are.
Too bad they both seem to attract A-holes trying to fill a void.

It's pretty funny to me that most of the negative responses here about Corvette driver steretypes are also frequently applied to BMW owners, especially the ones about the porcupines and compensating for penis size.
