Take it in. This almost has to be a a software glitch. There's no good reason the HVAC system should turn itself back on once you've turned it off.

sorry for bumping a year old thread, but its one of the few talking about the issue I'm having with my 09 3 Series.

Quote:

This usually is because the right side mirror is selected by the switch to move the mirror with the buttons. If you move the selector switch to the driver side mirror then the tilt should work.

My issue is the same as others on here...the HVAC completely off (I decrease the fan until it is off)..I drive a little bit and then it comes on to the lowest fan speed. I took a video using my cellphone to show my dealer that I'm not crazy if they say they cant reproduce it.

Anyone have this issue resolved by the dealer?

I just noticed the same thing happening in my 09 135i coupe. It's really frustrating.

BMW re-programed my computer or something and that had fixed it...It was a while ago, and I don't have the paperwork on me at the moment...but I basically made them drive it until they seen it happen...which was about 5 miles or so. They had no idea what caused it and had never seen it before.

wow I had forgotten about this thread. precisely because it stopped happening. I can't recall the exact timing, but it has had the software updated I think twice since. That's the only thing I think could've fixed it.

Also, it never happened again after what I described in this thread.
