for the most part I think they are right when it comes to the headlights on the 1. They are a bit buggy. But driving down a road and you pass a 1 and a 3 coming around a bend, the 1 looks hott and the 3 seems buisness-like IMO. I like the 3's headlights and lower profile tail lights most of all. but thats all.
A minor drop, and tinted windows w/ some nicer rims on the 1 really make it pop.

and maybe some ambergones .. lol.

As i recall, When i was at the dealer last time I was talking to a guy that had a 335 that wished he had gotten the 135. Ive heard similar story from another guy as well that has a 3.
Never heard regrets from 1 series owners.

The people bashing the 1 series are all concerned about the looks. Although the looks of a car comes into play when deciding on a car. However, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion about the 1 or 3.
My thing is get in where you fit in. However, the people bashing the 1 obviously has not driven the 135. Because when compared to the drive in the 335, IMHO, the 135 is wayyyyy better than the 3....

AGREED.. When test driving a 335 vs. a 135 It was a big dif. I had to actually make a conscious effort remembering to breath when driving the 135 down a windy road. The 335 didnt do the trick on the same road. Its what sold me on the 1.

I think the 3 Series is beautiful, especially the M version but I'll take the same drivetrain in a lighter, smaller package everytime.

I had the same reaction. I drove the 335 then the 1 and the 3 was nice but the 1 was more fun. I know people knock it for the looks but I think that is because they regret getting the 3. 335is are a dime a dozen around me and I rarely see 135's I think in the last 6 months I have seen exactly 4 and maybe 100 335's. My friend joked that the 1 lookd like a shoe and said he was tempted to go get his shoe shine kit for me.lol He is also a Honda s2000 but swinger though.

I would like the 335/328 coupes more if they were faster than the 1 (and not so common), but since they are actually slower and more expensive, it makes for an interesting choice. For me, it was substance over style.

My opinion,

1) 1er is more sporty; in terms of handling and fun factor
2) 3 is big and long not what I wanted
3) there are too many 3 on the road and is played out
4) who the F cares???

I like my 1 better than any 3 but if I chose a 3 I would say the exact opposite.

I don't even look at 3's. Seriously. Might as well be a Mercedes.

I'd look at a nice VW R32, Camaro, or Mustang way before a 3.

If one doesnt like the headlights one can put some eye lids to make the look "meaner"...no biggie. I did on mine and love the way they look on the car, I love it. IMHO a 3 series coupe is a mom car, no offense to anyone out there w/ an e90, they are nice cars...just not my bag (rather my mom's bag). I had an E46 before my 1er and you simply cannot compare THAT 3 series' beautiful looks with the tugboats the current 3 has become. Plus the 1 is faster. Plus the 1 is rare on the streets. The 1 is everything a 3 series should be but stopped being circa 2006.

3 looks more elegant...i got no problems with that...i like my car more coupe-ish and less gt style and with our car being a bit lighter it was no choicee for me...but i'd take a 3'er if there was no 1'er

Ditto, the savings account that paid for my down payment on my 1er was originally opened for a future 3er. The rest is history

135 exhaust has a nice deep growl to it. Some say it is better than the 335 snarl but I still love the 335 dual exhaust. It makes all the difference.

Dual-exhaust would make the 135 more of a man's car IMHO.
That's what one of them posted. I'm not an expert about cars, but doesn't the 135i have dual-exhausts?

Almost, but right before the muffler, the two pipes merge into one.

They forget though, 2 full exhaust systems are heavier than our 1
