OCDetailing: Infiniti "Neglecto" G35 Obsidian Black

Lets get started. A gentlemen from a G35 forum was looking for a recommendation for a body shop and I provided a suggestion and he followed through with the suggestion. From that suggestion it lead to this detail. He was a very inquisitive customer and definitely was interested in attaining knowledge about what could be done to his car and what he should continue to do after the detail. He was the second owner. The previous owner obviously didn’t take much interest in the vehicle.

The car had wax residue all over the place and the trim was in fairly bad condition. You will be able to tell by the pictures.
I apologize for not posting a little more often. Another business has taken up a lot of my time so I haven’t been able to do write ups of my details.

In any case let us get started.

BEFORES

Wax Residue. They were not fun to get off. I had to use all purpose wash as well as peanut butter. YAY for smooth peanut butter. I had some to eat as well. Tasty and yes I did wash my hands before I used my finger.

Rust proofing residue that was found throughout the vehicle.

Swirls a plenty!

More rust proofing residue.

DURING

So lets begin. A measurement of the paint was taken and the paintwork was healthy for an Infiniti. I actually am quite jealous about the thickness of paint. My infiniti’s and other newer infiniti’s I have come across have hit as low as 76 from factory.

Ok, in terms of how I decided on the products I did. I went through the process of least aggressive to most aggressive. Obviously I ended up with a fairly aggressive combo of wool and M105. I love how smooth and how cool wool is on paint and I love M105 but I hate how it does dust up. The least cut polish to medium cut polish was hardly making a dent so I settled with the M105 and wool as it produced the results I was happy with. It was followed up with white sonus with SIP to remove the holograms caused by the previous polish and pad. I finished that down with blue pad and PO85rd.

The bumper was recently repainted however it already had signs of bad swirling. I did not have to use wool on the bumper just SIP with yellow and PO85rd with white 4 inch pads.

Holograms after Wool and M105

Refined with SIP and PO85rd

The next few pictures I pulled the G outside to catch a few sun shots and also to check work.
I noticed a little holograms remaining.

Missed a spot in the upper rear passenger but it just needed another hit of SIP before
PO85rd.

The next few shots are of the bumper. The bumper was in really bad condition. I had to hit
the area with two hits of M105 and although it took out 70% of the defects I decided to skip a third hit of M105 and went with a less aggressive White pad and SIP with two more hits so I wasn’t taking off too much clear.

Severe swirling and some bad damage to the trunk and the afters below.

Swirls on the bumper.

I pulled the G out for a second wash from all the dusting. I took a few more sun pics. You
will notice a fewer deep scratches however I decided it was not worth while to chase these
RDS.

AFTERS

Thanks for your time and as usual I welcome the good and the bad.

Hey Nick.....it's Don with the 135i.

I never fail to be amazed by the work you do.

It's so mesmerizing to see the magic when the paint just seems to pop back from the dead like that.

I still can't thank you enough for polishing out my hood damage....man you are a lifesaver!

You are a true master at the craft.

If anyone in the GTA area is looking for a top-rate detailer....look no further.

OCDetailing has my highest regards and I can attest to how professional and personable of a guy Nicholas is.
