Found Rust Already

So it's been snowing in Calgary for a few days now, light snow but they stack up. Anyways, when I was getting rims and tires changed for winter, I noticed there's already rust! After taking off my OEM rim/tire, there is a cylinder bar, it's around the end of this bar (sorry not a car expert so don't know the name of that spot). Any one seen that? I forgot to take a pic of it. Oh and this is my first winter, last winter it was stored in garage.

Not sure? It looks like it's holding the brake pad. Also it's where the rim goes?

I guess you're referring the brake disc and caliper. It's is normal to have rust formation when it's been wet. Coz the brake disc and inside caliper are made with raw materials without special coating to protect them. It's just the natural physically properties of metal. They will be gone after a decent city driving in a dry sunny =)

It's the HUB. Mine had it too. Its steel/iron and hence rusts.

Not an issue

I wouldn't worry about any rust under the car on drive shafts, hubs, control arms, etc. Just make sure everytime you take your car for a wash, spray under the car and the wheel wells. If you see rust on your paint then that is another issue.

Have fun driving the 1er in the Calgary winters!
