Heat coming into the cabin area

I was pushing the car yesterday and had the AC off, and noticed that heat was emitted from the area where you have the smoke lighter and ash try in front of the gear lever, it becomes hot and not just warm. Is this normal? or should I get it checked? it would cool down when I stop pushing the car

BMW engines sit farther back to keep weight distribution better.
Having the engine closer to the firewall increases how much heat comes through.
My E46 325i did this as well.
My 135i is dual turbo, shorter wheel base, with the engine sitting far back.
The heat is even greater than the NA 325i.
It's really noticeable on cooler days/nights when I open the window, which then circulates the cabin air drawing the heat from the firewall area out into the cabin. At times it's feels as if I have the heat set to low with low fan speed, even though the heat is off.
It's common and part of the design, however, it shouldn't feel "hot", warm/very warm sure.

Normal. The transmission tunnel and shifter will heat right up. The N54 runs very hot, it's just residual heat coming through.

I get a lot of heat around the center stack, too. Same thing on my 330ci.
