Cashing in on the 100K warranty...

Just wondering if anyone has expericence with this. Im about $2700 away from having the enagaement ring for my girlfriend. It looks like ill wind up doing a Dinan Stage II, which should kill the 100K warranty, so why not cash in on it and be able to get the ring sooner.

The paperwork says you have 60 days to cancel the policy for a full refund. Im wondering if anyone has done this and if they get a check or BMW just puts it towards the loan. The book says if I financed the car it goes back to the leinholder but I did put $6K down...

If you financed the car, and owe money on it, the Extended Warranty money will go to the bank or financing company. It will take you about 6 weeks for it to be applied.

oh no getting married.... dodge that bullet a few years ago got engaged and then called it off a month later for some reason that ring on the finger just made her do a 180 and went crazy.... like after i called it off had steak thrown across my kitchen and pretty much ran-sacked my house picking her stuff up.... the best part was for some reason she gave the ring back to be and i all of a sudden had 2,000 back.... then a week later knocked on my door asking for it back cause she wanted to pawn it and goto cancun...

but good luck man and congrads on getting engaged.

All sounds so classy....what can you get for $2,000.00 now a day? 1/3 to 1/2 cut? Doesn't an extended warranty cost about 2 grand...there ya go.

Dinan Stage II & III…major power losses over time!

And here's the response from Steve Breen of Dinan at page 8.

To get the full perspective on this issue, I recommend reading all the posts (it's a lot of reading!) and draw your own conclusion.

I am very happy with the Dinan Stage 2 on my 135i conv 6MT and recommend it to others.

on my previous car i cancled the warranty when i traded it in. even though i had a full bumper to bumper factory warrnaty for 48,000 miles, and i was only on 42, the prorated the extended warranty from DAY ONE.

basically I lost half of the purchase price of the extended warranty while still in the factory warranty. since I traded the car in, the check was cut to me, but if I had cancled and kept the car (as mentioned above) it would go to the lien holder.

and that's how i learned i'll never buy an extended warranty even if I think I'm going to keep the car forever since my forever only lasted about 2-3 years.
