damaged before delivery

I didn't check my email for a week and look at this. I am so pissed I have been thinking about this car for 12 months in Afghanistan and I just got done telling everyone that I be driving my BMW next week. Sorry I just had to vent to someone.

Quote:
Hello Shon,

I have been trying to contact you along also with BMW North America. As detailed in the email below I am sorry to have to inform you that your vehicle was damaged in transport from the port to the dealer of your choice. In the last few days I have been trying to resolve this situation to best meet your current needs and minimize both the financial & inconvenience ramifications this incident has caused.

I am pleased to confirm the following:

I have been able to secure a courtesy/loan vehicle for you from when required until the replacement vehicle is ready.

We are going to build a new BMW 128i Coupe 2010 m/y car for you, the new model Year car will be like for like specifications, this will of course also be a marked financial improvement for you in the long term in relation to the residual value, i.e. your car would have been collected as a 2009 M/Y, but now it will be a 2010!

I have also been able to add an upgrade to the music system for you and add the option 677 Premium Hi Fi system with no additional cost. Your car will start production next week and arrive early in the New Year. Please contact me as a matter of urgency ASAP. I am happy to contact you by phone, also please note that the telephone number confirmed on your original PO is no longer available.

Thx

Oh well. Look at it this way:
- They could have told you they were just going to fix it
- You now get a 2010 model
- You get additional free upgrades
- You can change something if you decided during the course of ordering the car you had/ hadnt ordered something you wanted / didn't want.

Yeah man. Shit happens. It sounds like they are taking care of you. I would be upset that it was going to take a little while longer to get my car, but you should be happy you are getting a much better deal. And it sounds like you'll still get to start driving a bimmer next week when they give you the loaner.

For most of us it would be an OK arrangement, but if you are only back for a limited time between deployments and now won't be able to enjoy your new 1, I would consider raising a stink with BMW. Depending on how particular you are, I would think they should be able to offer you any unbuilt 128i sitting in the US. This would mean only a delay of a week or 2 rather than a month or 2.

I think the dealer is really stepping up to the plate on this one. They're giving you a loaner car (ask for a cool one!) and the upgraded stereo for no charge. It's going to be an extra month or so, what can you do.

I understand that your situation with the military may be different than most, but I have to say that if the dealer told me in the beginning that if I could wait an additional month for my car, and they'd give me a loaner and a free upgrade to the Premium Sound, I'd have jumped on it

I believe your car probably suffer more then $8000 damage during transport; that's why BMW is building you a new car.

Now you are getting a MY2010 with bigger mirror and a storage tray... Hopefully the HPFP issues are resolve on the new model!

Enjoy the loaner!

I know how you feel, you would rather have the car waiting for you as soon as you get back but these things do happen and it does seem like they are trying to look after you. Good luck with everything, the upgraded sound system is worth it too.

Man, that's a hook up! They could have told you "tough sh!t, see you in January." It's a shame that there are always dumbasses like hockeymutt that want to push the envelope and piss people off to where they don't want to help others out anymore. Take the deal.
