Exclamation Fuel Gauge Problem

Guys,

I drive a 2009 135i couple 6mt. I seem to be having a fuel gauge issue. The fuel indication needle will not go to 0 when I shut off the engine, instead it stops at the 1/4th tank left marker. Additionally, when I turn on the engine, the needle goes completely off the fuel range and just sits below the end of the speedometer. It is a good 5-6 mm above the full tank level.

The gauge was perfectly fine today morning, but this issue came up after I filled up a full tank of gas. There are no warning lights or codes. I have turned the car on and off a couple of times and it doesn't seem to fix the problem. I also re-start the trip computer to see if that would help and it has not.

I would appreciate any advice which might help me diagnose and possibly fix the issue.

Thanks.

Looks to me that a trip to the dealer is in order for this one.

I agree. Why people want to diagnose problems like this on a car under warranty is beyond me. I agree that it would be nice to know but electronic glitches as such are almost impossible to diagnose without the proper equipment.

I've already made an appointment with a dealer. I figured it would be worth an ask if someone else had a similar problem and possibly had a simple fix.
