What is that white thing?

hello everyone! a friend of mine want to install a quad exhaust on his 123d, now he wonder if he can remove the white part? what is it?
(not his car on the picture)

I don't remember anything like that when I exchanged the diffuser on my 135.

Just a very wild guess - could it be a backup light? I know some European cars do have what looks like a single foglight (to folks in the US) attached under the rear bumper that lights up in reverse. Again, since it's difficult to see most of the object in question, just a guess.

BTW, do you know the make of the exhaust system?

^ LOL, no. It kinda looks like a bag of coke or something. :P Anyway, I look off my rear diffusor on my 135i last week and don't remember seeing anything white like that. Are there electrical wire coming out of it? It could be for the PDC or something. idk.

Looks like a block of styrofoam to cushion the bumper.

i dont think it is a backup light, never seen one of those you explane:S

Could be the lead weight BMW put in to get the perfect 50:50 F/R balance.

I know my 135i has one.
