Sort of OT: Location of 50 'safety cameras' in NSW

Alright, I'm sure you Sydneysiders know that our lovely government has now converted a bunch of red light cameras into speed cameras as well.

The scary thing is, these cameras lack the usual three "warning: speed camera ahead" signs. A lone, rectangular "Safety camera ahead" sign replaces the "red light camera ahead sign".

All these are set for 60km/h

Locations as follows:

B*stards...

I've uploaded red light camera locations into a Garmin GPS so I get a warning. Pity you can't upload them into the iDrive system.

I believe soon we will require someone with a flag to walk in front of our cars....

Oh FFS, this is going too far!!! Surely the RTA is already fundraising enough from fixed speed cameras?

Oh obviously they don't think so. It was a quiet transition done in December last year, only now are announcements being made after fines have gone out for about 1 month (trial period was December).

If they can't nab you for running the red, they wanna get you for accelerating through the yellow. I seriously question the safety implications of these cameras, surely it's safer to go slightly faster through the yellow than emergency brake so someone rear ends you?

The Castle Hill intersection I pass every night to go home will ALWAYS flash everytime. The green light is on for such a short time that most people make it through during the yellow. Most people obviously don't know what a safety camera is either

Call me a cynic but you really think NSW government cares more about safety of the motorists than revenue raising? Their record speaks for itself!

That's not cynical, it's just how it is.

Guess what? They're thinking of putting an extra 250 of these money makers if the current ones work out well. And I'm guessing they'll serve their intended purpose VERY well.

Bloody had to mash the brakes today when I almost forgot about the one in Pennant Hills.
