Rhode Island Installation?

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a great installer in RI for a number of suspension mods? I'm looking for someone really trustworthy/skilled that knows what they are doing.

Any/all local and/or reasonably nearby recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

well that was quick...here's what he said:

tell them NOT to bring it to german motors or whatever the heck its called... in providence...overpriced and they hack everything

Cima Brothers in on Cranston street have been working on bimmers/audis/porsche/mb/vw for years.... like, 50 years. i'm not sure if they deal with aftermarket parts, but that would be my first recommendation

Thanks VERY much for the feedback! I'll contact them.

If anyone else has suggestions, please chime in! I'm planning on doing a bunch of work within 2 - 4 weeks (camber plates, coilovers, control arms, sway bars, rotors, pads, etc.) and really need someone I can trust.

I am willing to go the northern CT or southern MA route if I must, or there are better options. I've used Turner Motorsport in the past, but they are two hours away.

Thanks again to all with any/all feedback!

I just called them. They don't do aftermarket installs.

Come on, is there nobody in RI that does serious performance work?

Anyone else in southern MA or northern CT?

I haven't used them yet, but these guys are on my radar:

Blue and White Motors

1815 County Street
Attleboro, MA 02703

(508) 399-6320

They're listed as "friends" in Boston Bimmer.

I spoke with Landshark today. They seem to be knowledgeable and I am seriously considering using them to do a fairly complete suspension change. They quoted me 10 - 12 hours for the job. I'm going to call around to see what other shops estimate. (And, estimate is surely a key word in this equation!)

FYI, as I extended my mod list a bit, I went back out to get quotes from a few qualified shops. Landshark will do the work. (Thanks again bimmer74!) I chose them in large part b/c of their expressed interest/desire to do the work. It's refreshing to find a shop that is interested in the project! IMO, that's the way it should always be! I'll report back after it's all done later next month. (I'm waiting for all the parts now.)

I thought I'd provide an update to this. And, most importantly, provide potentially beneficial information to fellow forum members.

Plainly, Landshark Automotive was a disaster. In no way could/would I ever recommend them. See here for further details: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388839

yikes. I'm really sorry to hear that.... are you once again looking for installers? Or attempting yourself? Is your car going to be ok?

Thanks Rachel. It was definitely not what I was looking for. Their errors, as well as those from the vendor I received the parts from, are going to cost me at least $600 - $800 in additional funds to make it all better. NOT FUN!

I found another shop in Boston that, at this time, am confident will be a MUCH better experience. It's German Performance Service. (Their site is below.) The proprietor ran the Turner Motorsport race team for a bit and is very active now in the race scene. He's currently chief technician for an ALMS team. I should be good to go with him. The car is going in on Monday.

Thanks again.

your story is far far worse than my epic camber plate install. hope your next round fixes it up.

reading these horror stories and experiencing one first hand has blown my faith in aftermarket parts and local shops to bits. from wheels with huge chip on one of them (he-said she-said between manufacturer and tire/wheel installer) and the epic saga of camber plate noises and crappy alignment shops, it's the worst $3k i've ever spent, shoulda blown it on some other unmentionable guy stuff, at least i'd have good memories.

I hear you 135gofast! My experience, with both BRracing and Landshark Automotive, has left me wishing that I went an entirely different route as well. Truly a horrible experience with totally uncalled for frustration, stress, additional funding needs, etc. It has really sucked. I have lost faith in much of the community too, without question!

BUT, this being said, on the positive side of things, I have had a couple good experiences as well. And, most importantly, being the performance driving freak that I am, I'm very, very happy with the results of my mod choices. I absolutely LOVE my 135i now. It's an incredible machine. It just needs to be sorted a bit. It goes into the new shop on Monday. I'm hoping (with the exception of my upcoming HPFP failure) that all will be made right and I'll have no issues for a number of years.

Thanks.

I own a performance shop in RI, we've worked on my car a bit and a couple local customers 135s and 335s. Also do a lot of work on M3's, we have an E30 and E46, and we'd definitely be interested in helping you out. Anyways if you wish check us out, name of the shop is Banchwerks located in Pawtucket we're well known in the VW/Audi community and have quite a few BMW customers along with about 7 BMWs of our own. We do a BBQ at the shop the first Wednesday of every month (I think i've posted about it before) that everyone is invited to (free food)! I haven't posted in a while due to buying an E30 M3 (read taking over my life) and buying a house, wish I could have gotten in before the Landshark disaster.
