Time taken to clear customs?
According to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen cargo tracking site, my car hit Port Kembla on the 17th of March but has still not cleared customs as of yesterday (29th). Is this normal or should I be worried (eg. that the car has been damaged in transit)? I asked the dealer and he said the delay was due to a large number of cars arriving on two ships that docked very close to each other leading to a delay in clearing customs and compliance.

mine was on the floor so I am probably not the right person to answer this. My brother just ordered a 2011 AW with 7 speed dual clutch and has a long and painful 3 months to wait until delivery. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Normally it takes 3 to 5 days to clear and much longer if it rains.. And seeing that Sydney is under a cloud of rain at the moment, the dealer could be telling the truth..
My son worked for Patricks Autocare at Glebe island Auto docking terminal for many years.. Depends on your dealers priorty listing at the wharfs and the customs work load. When my car arrived the dealer issued a priorty clearing and the car was cleared in 2 working days from Port Kembla. This was only so that the dealer could deliver before the financial year ending. So in the end, it really depends on the dealers authority.

There is also prep time after it clears customs before it gets to the dealer.

True. So if you are to include pre delivery and customs clearance and transport, you are normally looking at about 5 to 10 working days from the time your ship docks to your garage.

I think he will be waiting 4-5mths, unless he picked one out of the ones that had already been ordered. If they ordered his fresh, it will be at least 4 or 5mths till he sees it. I'm at 3mths now and have been told at least 1 to 1 1/2 more.....BOOO!!!
