suspension install - Atlanta
I am about to order the FSD/eibach combo and was wodering if anyone knew of some reputable shops around metro ATL to do the install?

I've been using The Shop in Norcross lately, 678-352-4900. Used Waylon in Chamblee for my KW install, 317-201-8670. Butler Tire would not be a bad option since they could also do the alignment in house.

since you ordered new shocks/struts and new springs, it should be fairly easy to install at home. All you'll need is basic tools, jack stands, jack and borrow a set of spring compressors from AutoZone. I've installed many a set myselft at home...

TopSpeed in Alpharetta. They have a Project 135i so will be familiar with the install, not to mention in-shop dyno and other tuning options. The owners name is Cicio. Tell him you heard about him here on 1addicts.com and that Marc(with the SGM 135i) sent you and he should take care of you.

Replacing the spring and shock is a DIY project but I won't say easy. If you haven't done it yourself, you better leave it to the professional or have some one who had done it before show you how to do it.

no I have'nt swap it on bimmers? what's so different about this brand?
do I have to drill holes for rear swaps? I hate leaving my car w/ others! I was astounded at my dealer's service "clinic" (I thought they're giving free makeups!) - just bring the car in for everything! - coolant is non-replacement, no dip stick, oil change is 18k I think?, ... wow, what did I do in buying a bimmer? Dude, get the tools and I'll help you w/ the install! I would never pay someone else, probably will cost you as much as the parts!!! |

Well for the fronts not much is different. The rears however are a PITA. No hole drilling but the top mounts are difficult to get to basically. It is just easier if you take it to a shop that has all the proper tools, lifts, etc, etc...It CAN be DIY though as I know a few on here have done it (most say in hindsight that they would NOT do it again though). You can change the oil yourself sooner if you like it is not hard of course. The electronic dipstick works fine and have never heard of one breaking (at least not int the first 50k miles ). Coolant is non-replacement but does get depleted from time to time and may need to be topped off. |

Thanks everyone for all the replies and advice.
Unfortunately I've been away for a couple weeks so haven't had an opportunity to get this done. I'm going to try look into TopSpeed this week (seems to be the most convenient.) As much I would love to try do this myself I have never done anything close to the type of job this would be and don't have nearly enough faith in myself |

Finally had the suspension installed after a couple weeks of procrastination.
Topspeed did a great job and I would defintely take my car back to for other mods (just need to start saving some cash again) Thanks to everyone for replies and help. The shocks and springs feel great, everything I wanted! More responsive and more engaging in the bends. Attached are some photos from before and after. The first was with stock suspension The second was a couple days after Koni/FSD's were installed The third was yesterday after putting on new tires (finally ditched the RFT's and put on PS2's 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear) I was very hesitant in doing this but must admit, as has been said a million times on the forum, that I am very glad I did. I have a long drive coming up in the next few days so don't want to rave too much just yet incase... |

Thanks. So far much better without the RFT. Many of the sounds, knocks and general uncomfortable things that I assumed to be the suspension have miraculously disappeared.
I don't want to say too many good things just yet, have to drive from Dallas back to Atl tomorrow and don't want to jinx anything..... Had the car washed at a random place somewhere in Dallas, sorry can't remember the name... |
