Another HPFP failure - with BMW tech notes
Hey Folks,
I've got an '08 135i; build date May 2008; 28K miles. So I read with trepidation all the HPFP failures. I love the car but was worried about this problem and sure enough, soon after I started to read about these failures I started to encounter symptoms. First, I got a few long cranks and start failures. This went on for several weeks and at my next service I told the adviser of the problem. They reprogrammed my car and I didn't see any problems, though it was intermittent in the first place, but I knew it would occur again. I did kind of notice somewhat slower engine speed increase but the next step occurred before I could convince myself one way or the other. Sure enough, less than three weeks later I got some mis-fires while driving and the check-engine light came on. This would occur whenever I revved the engine above about 5K. Engine power would die and I could barely make it up even the smallest grade unless I had a pretty good head of steam going already. Sometimes the power would be worse than others. So, I brought the car in Tuesday morning and got the car back this afternoon (Thursday). My receipt from the dealer has this text: == Customer states engine light is on please check and advise Faulty HDP Performed short test. Found faults 29CF, 29D0, 29DC, 29F2, 2B2C, 30FF stored in the DME. Followed N54 diag tree. Ran test plan for low fuel pressure sensor. Test plan advised to replace HDP. Ran test plan for rail pressure sensor. Test plan advised to replace HDP. Submitted PUMA case #32292528. PUMA advised to replace HDP. Removed intake vents and intake manifold. Removed and replaced HDP. Updated vehicle SW level. Cleared adaptation values and performed test drive to readapt DME. Vehicle running normal at this time. Parts replaced are: 13-51-7-613-933 RMFD High pressure 13-53-7-582-770 ASA bolt 11-61-7-547-242 Set of profile gaskets We'll see if it's fixed. T. |

Good luck. Mine started failing again too. Guess I'll be driving a new 328i loaner again this week.

My recently replaced HPFP part number is #943 not #933, so what is #933?
