Leather dye

The leather on my driver's seat side bolster is looking worn. Its the light grey. Any recommendations for a good source for matching leather dye, or is this something I shouldn't try to DIY but leave to a professional?

I heard Swissvax dye is good and it's color matched via code.

I was given the contact of dom@scheerdetailing.com a while back and he can get the stuff fairly cheap and is quite knowledgeable.

Thanks for the info. Seems pricey, $90 for a little bottle. I need to find the color code from my dealer; the VIN decoder called the leather color Alaskagrau but didn't give a number.

Will do. Shipping overseas will take awhile, so I don't know when it'll be done.

I put on 3 applications of the dye this weekend. They recommended degreasing the surface before applying using acetone. I didn't have any so I used a citrus based degreaser and wiped thoroughly with a damp cloth after using. I applied the dye using a lint free cloth, dabbing it on flat surfaces and working it into cracks. The color match is perfect, but the wear on the bolster had removed some of the texture as well as the dye, so I can tell where the dye was applied because it is smoother than the rest of the seat.

Here are the results. Previously, about 50% of the dye on the bolster near the door had rubbed off. The dye kit came with lightening and darkening agents to adjust the color, and a gloss agent to add shine. I went with the straight dye as mixed.
