No music from iPhone snap-in adapter

Question: Will an iPhone 3GS running iOS4 play music through the factory snap-in adapter (part no. 84-10-9-182-792).

Also, this adapter is NOT necessary for bluetooth to work, right? It appears I've spent $135.97 to be able to charge my iPhone. But the cable adapter did that, right? Also the cable adapter does show my music through the in-dash stereo. I think I'm going to return the adapter. It doesn't play my tunes!

If your 135i does not have the 6NF option and you are not using the 6NF cradle then there will be no music.

If you don't know what is the 6NF option then search for "Smartphone".

The snap-in adaptor does not play music unless you ordered the 6NF option when spec'ing your car. Unfortunately, it can't be retrofitted either. Your snap-in adaptor is merely an iphone charger.

Thanks guys! I brought it back to the dealer this afternoon. They tried to give me crap for not having the original box, but in the end they refunded the full amount. It was a pain anyway because I had to remove my iPhone cover to fit it in that slot. The cable adapter works fine. I don't know why they recommended this part in the first place!
