Or two larger turbos with better exhaust manifolds? (although "log" manifolds often spool quicker than tubular, with reduced top-end performance)

Also, more aggressive camshafts would be a MAJOR plus!

I'm excited.

Still blows my mind that people judge and base a whole car on its peak HP number.

Exactly, the Cayman S has 320 bhp and it's a phenomenal sports car. Cars do not need 300bhp to be great - too many ricer magazines and garage project features have distorted reality.

I won't be in the market for this car, keeping my 135i for 10 years but I will be looking to retrofit as many parts as possible. (LSD,Suspension)

Kind of a funny question. Does anyone know what shoes is Dr. Kay Segler wearing on the photo below. They look like fairly nice driving shoes...

On some of the Bimmerfile pictures the mentioned tire-size can be spotted ... but no indication whether rims and tires are standard or part of an option pack.

You have to remember, people have to be excited when they drive in order to justify a sport cars purchase. (well, at least for me)

One MAJOR factor of the excitement level is the power the car produces, and how it produces it.

People coming from a RX-8 will think this thing is FAST.

People coming from a C6 Z06 will think this thing is SLOW.

And, if it comes out right, people from any car that really do sport driving will think the car handles and feels GREAT!

I'm sure if the M3 came with only 200 rated horsepower the sales volume would not be nearly as high. Basically people would see 200hp/3700lbs and instantly decide it was not powerful enough based on that one number, like you were saying.

The rims are part of the upgrade options, as mentioned elsewhere.

1M (E82) is showing what is possible in a small timeframe 1M (F22) will show what is possible once you do not have restrictions.
I hope the N55 is merely a rough starting point for the next M3 engine. I think for the M3 people will want complete exclusivity on what the M3 engine is capable of over the 335.

Will the 4-banger be somewhat derived from the N55? I'm guessing a 2L with a single twin scroll turbo is in the works.

Im gonna be coming from a e92 M3 killing Twinscrewed e36 M3. And I think refinement is really what I want. A fast, fun car for sure. But something that feels smooth yet planted. Something you can daily but feel totally confident at the light next to the SS or at the autocross. I drove a friends e90 m3 recently and I just enjoyed the refinement. Its got power but that didnt impress me as much as its driving dynamics.

I am willing to bet that this version of the N54 will NOT be very tuner friendly.

I would assume that BMW is making sure of that....

I wish they would do the turbo 4 with this 1M.

Turbo 4 is the proper way to do this car.
