M3 Strut Tower Brace Kit for your 128i 135i

HP Autowerks, Inc. did all the R&D work and brought the E90post and 1Addicts community the M3 suspension conversion kits back in 2008. With increasing requests, HP Autowerks is introducing the M3 strut tower brace kit for your 128i and 135i.

Gone are the days removing the oem brace to get to your rebound adjustment knobs on your struts or change your camber settings for HPDE or track days. With this M3 strut tower brace kit you will be able to access those adjustments with ease.

The "Mount", the piece that bolts to the firewall has been modified to accomodate the different firewall angles found on the 128i and 135i.

***The heater closing panel may have to be removed or modified to install the M3 strut tower brace. It's number 13 in the parts illustration drawing***

Includes all parts needed for installation.

Yes, I don't see why not. The same brace(minus the modified "mount" piece) fits N54 3-series.

Why would one NEED this cross bar? Our cars already HAVE a strut brace.

Does the M3 brace really make a difference? Other than from our (-) wallet?

This is so you have access to adjust your dampening adjustment. This also helps to keep the strut mounts from mushrooming when you hit pot holes.

Can you guys pls elaborate what you mean by 'modified'? Are we talking about slight trimming/cutting, or something more involved?

Very slight cut and trim or just remove it if don't wish to cut and trim the piece.

If you were to look at photo#1 you can see the cover is in place and fits perfectly after some minor trimming - you can't see it in the photo since it is so minor.

Photos 2 and 3 were taken without the cover.

Probably not. The M3 brace has a ring that captures the whole face of the strut tower.

For a first timer, maybe 1 hour. Most of time will be spent figuring out what panels to remove in order to install the brace.

There is a reason why BMW use this brace on the M cars, because they work. Now you can have this M performance piece on your 128 or 135i.

We just found out on earlier 135i's, at least up to 2010, the heater closing panel can be reused. 2011 and later cars will either need to modify the existing heater closing panel or purchase the earlier version.

Here is a photos of the V shaped brace with the earlier version of the heater closing panel.

So... do you need to do any trimming of this plastic pannel with the pre '11 cars? Or does it just snap in?

How about another photo of this plastic pannel looking at the sides - where the metal brace goes thru the part?

TIA

Thanks for those new photos. In the 2nd pic - that is not quite put all back together - right??? I mean do you just leave the wires flailing ontop of the engine? What about the cover for the ECU? TIA.
