Tommy Milner & Eric Riehle (Manager BMW Performance Parts) discuss BMW Performance
I am not sure if any of you guys have seen this, but Eric shared this video with me. This was filmed in July.
If you are not familiar with Tommy Milner, he is one of BMW's No.92 driver (M3, class GT2). ![]() ![]() Eric Riehle is BMW NA's Performance Development Manager. Seems Tommy liked the 135i the best, so far ![]() More videos to come soon! ![]() ![]() ![]()

interesting video. They need to do a better job on the suspension; there is still a significant body roll on that 135. But, I can see BMW is moving into the right direction.

so you pay extra money at BMW for performance parts for carbon fiber side mirror caps, etc? For what? appearance?
So the exhaust sounds better? and is a little lighter? ok... Seems to me that BMW performance parts are mainly for show, not go, yet you pay out the a$$ for them as accessories. F that

They are carbon.
Remember, that BMW will remain conservative with every upgrade they offer because parts must remain reliable and safe.

The mirror caps are just for show, yes. The exhaust does increase hp though. I've seen a few dino's but I think it's a peak of 6hp to put it conservatively (not as much as aftermarket). I'm not even sure if that's at the crank or at the wheels (as I haven't really looked into it too much. Either way, you maintain warranty, and if you sell your car, it won't lose value or be as hard to sell with these parts on it as apposed to aftermarket ones. That's why I'm getting the cf rear diffuser and exhaust throught the dealership on my 115i when it finally gets built and arrives here. That and I can put it on my financing for the vehicle, haha.

It is comical that in the advertisement they are mentioning about track days, but if you take your car to a trackday and experience an issue, no way they will warranty it. hypocrites.

I'm not sure how that is hypocritical when track days are pay to play. I wouldn't pay for someone's brakes if they tore them up at the track... I don't even tear my street brakes up at the track, I use hawk race pads to destroy.
Keep that in mind, just my .02

Who said brakes? They are wear tear items, you use it. I am talking about anything besides that. Any problems.

They will stand behind their products if you take it to the track. The parts are meant to hold up and withstand most conditions.
The only thing I know of that BMW won't warranty are brakes from track sessions.

I've seen plenty of threads on BMW forums where BMW won't honor warranties due to "abuse" or tracking the car. Even for wear/tear items. This is even while still under the 4 yr / 50k warranty. There is a thread right now on M5board where BMW won't honor a clutch replacement and the car is still under full original warranty. They accused the owner of high revs, abuse, and tracking the car. The dealership called BMW NA to file a warranty claim, BMW NA denied it.

Let me tell you this. It has gotten sooo ridiculous that BMW FS are sending interns to take pictures at Mid Ohio on HPDE days. I got insider information on this, and I do cover my plates, VINs everywhere because of this ridiculous practice.

Guys, everyone knows me here, I wouldn't beat around the bush.
I also would not go to bat for BMW if I didn't believe in their product, regardless of whether or not I work for a dealership. If you guys have warranty questions regarding track-related topics, let's continue this on the phone 678-832-4667 or info@unitedBMWonline.com I originally intended for this thread to be entertainment and not what it has become. Back on topic. Dan

There are honest dealership out there but from stories I have heard I doubt BMW or its affiliates will back the product after they hear you have taken the car to track. It's hard enough sometimes to warranty parts from regular usage without being accused of being abusive.
Look at the other M5board story, tech crashed the car after service and they tried to make the owner pay for parts?!? Now think about trying to make them pay for repairs they didn't cause.

Warranty in question needs to be discussed in another thread. Let's try to keep this on topic. I'll be glad to answer any questions through PM, e-mail (info@unitedbmwonline.com), phone (678-832-4667) 7:30am-5pm eastern, or a thread topic specifically related to warranty and track use.

What always gets ms is that when designing a performance car companies take the prototypes to the track and run them at autox. They are obviously designed to be flogged like this so why is it an issue
