Hey all,

Have you guys been seeing all the hoopla going around about the Nordschleife in danger of closing??? Someone even opened a FB page about it and has a vid with Sabine Schmidt asking for support and also has a .org site about it. Just wondering...

Yup! Saw it a few days ago. I am kind of wondering HOW they plan on saving the 'Ring. I heard they are like 400M euros in the hole. I think the German goverment is not gonna give them anymore money. And that rollercaoster thing was a total flop.

Go to Facebook and do a search on: "Save the Ring".

I have seen the page and also hit "Like". I also found out today that the fees have been hiked for 24 euros a lap now and they also add charges for coupons for people to use exclusively in the 'ring. They have also now BANNED RSR Nurburg vehicles from coming on the 'Ring because of "Safety Violations". It is about the same time that it was announced that Nurburgring GmbH aquired all the shares of Zakspeed Racing School (I think that's how it's called) and also if you rent a camera from them you can film on the ring. There is a petition also going on to the EU comission regarding the whole thing and how they are trying to literally run the small businesses out.

Man Nick that is terrible news. Seems like only a matter of time before us "car guys" start to boycott the Ring. lol

I still remember my first visit/drive on the 'Ring way back in 1991. The old Opa who sold you a lap ticket - for the ripe old sum of 5DM or 2.55 euros or $3.34 USd. Now its 24 euros - seesh! No 'RingWerk or Ring Cafe or anything.

Just drive behind the grand stands and right onto the track! There were no signs... you just had to be in "the know".

I also prefer the old small 'Ring museum that use to sit just in front of the Dorint Hotel. Now its just a (new) empty parking lot.

Now there are rumors that MB, Aston Martin and Pirelli have opted out of the Industry testing pool. This is gonna suck big time if other companies follow suit.

WOW!!! closing of the Ring would be Huge Epic Fail. It would be like back in 2003 when British Airways "put down" the Concorde. <teary eye>

I know. If you google "save the ring" it has al the info and a link for a petition that is getting done up to be sent to teh European Comission. I already signed.

Hi, the guys from the 1erforum.de are organizing a meeting over the weekend of May 14t-15th. we Will all be going to the Ring on Sunday the 15th. ther day before we will be driving a bit around to teh Hotel where we will stay over night on saturday. The price per room will be around 49 Euros/person.
