New guy

Hi everyone -

I pickup my 2011 135i tomorrow and I'm quite excited. Space Gray, red leather, DCT and M package. It's my first BMW as I've been using an A4 for a few years.

These forms have been a great wealth of information so thanks to all.

For the winter here in NY (about 1 hour from NYC), I'm going to be putting on Blizzak LM-25 RFT with 17" rims (tire/wheel package recommended from Tirerack). If anyone has other suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

All the best,
Paul

Blizzak is probably the best "snow" tire..a compromise choice ( not as good for deep snow) but better perfomance/ride/noise in moderate snow, would be the Dunlop D3.
Not sure is they make an RF version. Check Tire Rack for details.

I have the 205-50/17s ( non RF) on my 135. No porblems at all last winter in Chicago area.

Let us know what you think of the DCT.

Dunlop does make an RFT variant. But I live in the snow belt in eastern Canada and have not had an issue with the blizzak in two winters.

So, after picking up the car from the dealership on Saturday morning, I proceeded to drive around Westchester for about 150 miles or so (over saturday and sunday). Man, is this car fun. I have no regrets and never had a car with so much power. Just a blast to drive and I actually look forward to driving now, heh.

With the runflats that came with the car, does everyone recommend keeping them for the spring/summer/fall or going with a traditional performance tire? I did notice that I really do feel every bump and bang, though I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering if there's an alternative to run flats and have the same performance as I'm unfamiliar with performance tires

Thanks everyone,
Paul

Most people report a significant ride and handling improvement when they replace the stock RF tires with a regular high-performance tire

Use the stock runflats till they wear out, then get a regular performance tire.

Hi everyone -

Just an update. I have about 300 miles on the car and loving every second of it. Did a nice, spirited jaunt alongside a Z06, R8 and Elise this past Sunday, in Westchester. Hardwiring the Valentine this weekend.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and input

Hope to see you guys on the road.

Best,
Paul
