Whats the highest octane rating I can safely use in my stock N55 engine?

Time trailing tomorrow and I'd like to try 100 or 110 fuel, is it doable/safe?

Garage List
2010 135i  [4.37]
It's safe but don't bother. First try improve your driving skills i.e. Line, brake points. Race fuel should be the last item on your list

As long as the fuel is unleaded and low on methanol (<10%) you should be ok.

Race fuel kills your oxygen sensors.

How so?

As long as said race fuel is unleaded, I think it should be ok. Of course no one knows until you test it in your car!

Race fuel is bad IF is leaded. If your car is stock, you don't need race fuel though. Higher octane fuel is better for heavily boosted cars because high octane delays detonation. You may not even notice if u put it in there. Buy a chip, put it in, put in race fuel and turn up the boost!

Unless your car is tuned for 110, don't waste your money. 93 is just fine. If you're really worried about detonation while at the track, put some octane booster in the tank.

Your car would run fine on any super hi octane gas, even leaded. It wouldn't perform noticeable differently. Your catalytic converters would be trashed. Expensive experiment.

+1 I don't think anything higher than 91 or 93 (Whatever is in your area) will benefit you unless you have a tune.
