1M Coupe at BMW's Welt today... (PHOTOS!!!!)

1M at BMW’s Welt…

Well… the temptation to see the new 1M in the flesh so to speak was too much for me to resist! So… off I drove to Munich today. The car is mostly covered up… but you can see some cool details. Its not enough for me to place an order… but I do think the car will be a hit. Plus it looks good. I can only imagine what it all looks like uncovered.

The nice people at the Welt were friendly and curious as to why I was taking so many pics. Lol I kind of got the impression that they have not been told a whole lot about this car. They had no real info. Some only heard what was said on the internet. Some did not know a thing.

One cool thing I did learn about the Welt… is that they now have two M3’s and one M6 available to Welt guests to test drive. They only charge 32 euros per hour! What a deal! Next time I’m going to take them up on their offer!

The 1M tender’s did tell me the 1M car will be on display at the Welt some time in December. They thought the first week or so – in Dec. I wonder if South or Scott can confirm this. They also said the 1M will debut at the Detroit Auto Show in December.

It was really hard to see anything new to report on. One thing is the rear valance trim. It looked to me like some sort of polished plastic. Or maybe painted plastic in an off grey/black color. It was NOT carbon fiber! I really could not see anything special about the headlights. They looked to me like the euro spec Xeons without adaptive feature. I am sure production cars will have adaptive (curve) lights. They had a special inner sun shade on the inside of the windshield. You could not see anything inside the car! That pretty much just left the exhaust and wheels and brakes to drool over.

Ok, onto my photos…

Enjoy,
Dackel

A cold cloudy grey day today in Muenchen…

The 1M…

Front wheel…

Rear wheel…

Painted plastic valence trim?

And…

More by Christmas…

IF you would like to see all my 1M photos you can see them here…

Rear valance has the same finish the Z4-S30i gets with M package. It's like a charcoal metallic paint / clear coat finish.

Yes. It looked painted but not quite in a black color. Some sort of metalic. Charcoal metalic makes sense. Btw... there was a small piece of velcro attached to the right most edge of the valance. Some people might confuse that with being something special. It was not.

This has got to be one of the most famous car covers of all time. BMW should include one with the delivery of each new 1M.

We MIGHT not have to wait that long. One of the employees there said Dec 4th. Not sure though. Said employee said that for the Dec 4th and 5th (weekend) the car would be back at he Welt with the cover off. IF thats the case I will drive back down there!!!

My little day trip down there was crazy. I drove the two hours down there. Stayed 45 minutes and then drove back here to be at work. But it was worth it.

YuP!

I had to go there and shoot the 1M. How many guys here went down there and did not post any pics! I thought Saturday evening for sure I would see some posts. None. No photos at least.

I am still HOT I did not go down to the Welt in the summer to take pics of the Concept Six. So... I wasn't gonna let the 1M slip out of my "sights". Whats a couple tanks of gas anyways lol
