E92 rear (quick chop)

I'm not amazin with photoshop but heres a quick chop on what I think the new M3 rear bumper will look like....

I think it'll have mesh and will be similar to the aerokit although deeper and more "M-like"

edit: added a couple more....

Isn't that basically the aero kit with bigger holes? I think it'll be more than that. It better be ...

Good effort nonetheless.

License plate

Guys, posted on this topic quite a few times. I'd be willing to make a large bet that the license plate ends up on the bumper. Look at the M6, look at the camouflage still on the mostly uncovered cars and also look at the Car Magazine p-chops. All the evidence is going that direction. The license plates on the trunk could easily be a distraction, although they would have to have made the two new trunk designs one with and one without the license plate and the one with would be mostly for distraction purposes.

It looks yummy in Imola and that yellow. I have hopes of paying an additional sum to have mine sprayed from the factory in Electric Red like my 330i daily.

Lol

I dunno, I'm one of those who think the bumper wont have the plate. Just looking at recent spyshots like the one below makes me believe that. The spyshot has new mirrors, sideskirts, front bumper, wheels and what looks like a rear bumper with mesh !

Anyway time will tell, pics should be out soon

There's no room for the plate on the bloody bumper, plus it looks asinine there.

M6 has it there because that is how the standard 6-series has it.

The current rear camo doesn't go nearly high enough on the bumper to allow for the design depicted in the pages of Autoweek, plus now they have added the mesh thingy. Still think it's going to be on the bumper?

Yep, thats what I thought.

Who knows but, maybe Car Magazine got it right and BMW have been tricking us with these mules. I hope not though. Even though the "mesh bumper" isnt as aggressive as I hoped, it's still better (in my opinion) than the "plate on bumper"

Unconventional for the sake of itself is senseless. Does having the plate on the bumper make the M3 better in some way that I can't comprehend? There is already a spot on the elegantly designed trunk lid for it, where there is ample space.

Different doesn't always mean better though. I want the M3 to be distinguished from the regular 3-series, but only in a manner consistent with its mission; where it is needed. I just don't want them to go overboard on the few opportunities they have to differentiate it if there is no need. The swollen wheel arches make room for larger rolling stock. The aggressive front fascia feeds air to the snarling alloy v8 and large front brakes. I question the gentle hood bulge if it is not necessary for clearance, and any other exercises in frivolity. I will accept a few stylistic accents as long as they add to the overall experience of the shape, and not stray too far from necessity. I think BMW will come through with a great design, hopefully something that everyone interested in can grow to love in time if they are not completely moved by it initially.
