BMW is being conservative. I bet they hold back not to step on the M3s.

Bet those extra few seconds were on the back uphill section and the front straight where the higher top end in the M3 comes more into play.

Id love to see sector times for both.

1. Cup tires
2. Dramatic weight reduction (almost 300kg)
3. slightly more power (25 PS)
4. reduced ride height & other mods (therefore handles better)

It is much lighter and it has aggressive geometry set up. I just exchanged E92 for E46 CSL and other than on straights, CSL is uncomparably more agile, has much more downforce and an amazing speed through corners.

And sound so wicked under load when they come up through the Breitscheid section at Nurburgring. Incredible car and handling. Most of the ones I have seen at the tracks here are normally caged and even more stripped down.

Waiting to see when someone or a company preps a 1M and gets it on the 'ring to see how it will really perform. Better yet, Would really like to see one in the 24hr race at Nurburgring next year.

Isn't that the Roasters time? I don't think there is a published time for the Coupe. Maybe wrong.

Not bad... here are some other times I dug up

8:06 Porsche Cayman S PDK (08)
8:16 Porsche Cayman S PDK (08)
8:09 Audi TT-RS (09)
8:13 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG (07)
8:18 Porsche Boxter S (09)
8:18 Lexus IS-F (07)
8:23 VW Golf R (10)
8:26 BMW 335i coupe (06)
8:26 AUDI S5 (07)
8:29 Audi TT-S (08)

Couldn't find lap times for Evo X, STI, or 370z
Also surprised the Porsche Cayman S has lap times 11 seconds apart. I THINK, it's because of 19" vs 17" wheels and ceramic vs stock brakes.
Very surprised by the TT-RS, unfortunately here in Canada, we only have the TT-S which already starts at 57,900 and only comes in DSG.
