Good driving roads near Phoenix?

Does anyone know of any good mountain roads near Phoenix (east valley) that they would recommend? I've been getting frustrated with work lately and really just want to take a morning or afternoon to take the car out and enjoy my car and the desert.

Take the back way to Prescott through Wickenburg , Up Yarnell hill. Great drive to test your skills.

Yeah, that's a good one. I took it all the way through Prescott, then Sedona, and up to the Grand Canyon early this summer. It was a great drive, although a bit touristy the farther north you go.

Although this drive isn't what the OP is looking for (a quick fix in the east valley). I live in the west valley, so I'm not much help there.

Tortilla Flats is sick...I also like to run the Phoenix 500. Depending on where you start from, it may not work. I start in Chandler, on the 101N and take it to the 60W, then the 10E back to the 101 loop. Also the drive from the 10 to Maricopa is descent. Good for long straight line blasts.

Or, for some good small twisties go up south mtn at various times. I also ride my (worlds fastest sport bike, stock) BMW 2010 S1000RR all over the state... My 4 whl beast is a N55 135 7spd M-DCT.... Stg 1 Tune, drop in filter..... Best run at Firebird with my car: 12.7@111mph ... Best run with my stock S1000RR: 9.85@153 mph... We need to have get togethers at the Pavilions on Sat nights from 6-9 pm and go on a BMW cruise.... I used to organize these events when I had my 2006 600 hp twin turbo GTO and my rare aftermarket supercharged 500 hp 2002 Lexus GS430... Used to have track rental for Gm vs Ford and was in the Exotic Car Club of Scottsdale... Lets all GTG and chat/hang some time, Life's to short

The Pavillions is too played out now for my blood. Too many 17 year olds w/ their Hondas. A cruise would be cool though. Maybe meet at Vivid and roll the Phoenix 500....the 101 to the 60 to the 10 back to the 101....

I'm located in Tucson and Mt. Lemon is a great twisty and windy road. My last e46 m3 and I had a great time doing that run. Just got the 1er, looking to see how large of a difference it will be.

Power Rd to Bush hwy, then back through either Usery Pass rd (which becomes Ellsworth...shorter drive) or continue on to Beeline hwy back towards Mesa...that's my quick "decompress" drive.
