Auto folding mirrors

Hi guys!

I don't think our canadian 1ers come with auto folding mirror option when parked (not sure)? In any event, mine doesn't. I was wondering if it is possible at all to have them installed on my car at the dealership or something? How doable is this? Has anyone done this before? What changes are involved (ie software, motorized mirrors, etc...)? Is it really worth it? I have to park in a tight space in my condo and the lady next to my spot keeps rubbing against the mirrors.

Thanks for your input
Sardius

While I doubt it's an easy retrofit, have you checked with your dealer?

Will do Tom, thanks. I just wanted to hear from experts on this forum ahead of time about pros and cons. I will be checking in for an appointment next week.

I thought about that, but that won't make her any slimmer.

lol... I had the same problem with my old neighbour... not much you can do but in my case some neighbourhood children pointing and laughing as she had to squeeze between two cars inspired her to join weight watchers...

this is what you need:

I got the SmartTop version works great! Relatively easy install.

That won't help the OP as he does not have folding mirrors installed. All that does is to allow them to be operated by the remote.

^ Correct. My mirrors are manually folded, no motors.

that sux, I figured all '11 135i's had this as part of the premium package... I guess they figure it would give the canadians fits if it got frozen in the folded position...

Although one would think that some of the mirror heat could be directed to the folding mechanism...

Do you have to push a button to make them fold? Or is it an option for them to do it automatically in park.

Pushing the switch is necessary, except that if they are already folded, they will automatically fold out when the speed reaches 25 mph.
