Open windows with remote.

Okay so this is what I'd like to know. If I hold a "open" key on my remote, the windows and after the roof opens up, however, If I hold the "close" on my remote, nothing happens. If this it is very dumb that it opens instead of closing. I always forget to close my windows or the roof and have to come inside to close it. I know you could insert the key in the door and turn it clockwise and then it will close all the windows and the roof but how could this be done remotely? Thanks

Well, I agree that I would love to have this feature; however, think about what could happen. Accidental button hold, someone in the car, etc etc. Very unlikely, but BMW prefers to avoid lawyers.

the title is a bit misleading, on another note, my remote can close the windows by holding the lock key, but can't open the windows by holding open key........

My uk 1er lets me open and close the windows with a push and hold of either lock or unlock buttons...

The Comfort Closing (including the folding of the mirrors by keyfob) can be coded into the USA 1-Series by Autologic or by NCS Expert.

The close function has been disabled in North America. This is due to the potential for lawsuits, someone could close the window while a child is sticking his head out the window ....thank you California!

That's strange. The windows and sunroofs in Aus have a pressure system where any pressure (VERY lightly) applied against the flow of window stops it.

Same in the US - it's called the "Pinch Protection System", but it apparently doesn't protect against the type of product liability lawsuit that worries BMWNA.

That is what I am talking about. To me it would have made more sense If I was to hold the "close" key to roll all of my windows and the roof up, just like you. My GF's Fiat is the same way as yours, "close" key to roll up the windows but my 128i is opposite which I don't like. Guess the safety takes priority in this one, from the BMW's point of view.

So since the North America disabled the option to roll the windows up with the remote key due to the lawsuits, can this be programmed WHILE I am in Germany on my US Specs 128i? Thanks

Personally, I find the open feature much more useful. When I'm approaching my car it's nice to have the windows rolled down by the time I get to it - it really helps to cool down the interior a bit when the car has been sitting in the sun. When I arrive to wherever I'm going and park, part of my routine always involves putting up the windows, which is really simple with the one-touch up feature. For me, I don't think the "comfort closing" feature would be terribly useful.

Are you aware that you can program the ventilation system to come on at a preset time to "cool down" your interior before you get in. It is programmed thru the climate system under "parked car operation".......VERY COOL feature.
I use it every day (when hot)....the car interior is no hotter than the outside when I get in. (I also use a sun shield in the windshield).
