Need Some Advice

Hello to All,

I am new to this forum, and need guidance as im stuck in a dilemma.

I have been trying to search this forum and the web for this, but could not find hence posting a query here.

Looking to buy a new car and am thoroughly confused between the BMW 125i and the Ford Mustang V6.

Yes i realize that the BMW will be great to drive and provide superb handling, But the mustang dwarfs it in power and styling, and the new one is supposed to hold its own around bends as well.

If this comparison has been done before can sm1 direct me to that thread.

Thanks and Regards

My previous car was Maruti Suzuki Alto with an 800 cc engine being driven at 40 kmph speeds. Im doubtful I would be able to decide based on a couple of test drives.

Also comments on maintenance and other issues would be great.

If you buy the BMW new you will have free maintenance so there really isn't anything to discuss there. If you buy one used and it's still under 4 yr/50K miles the maintenance will be free.
Personally I would drive a BMW over a Ford any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The OP is not the US, so none of the free maintenance or warranty information applies.

The only way to know for sure is to drive both. For me BMW beats Ford hands down.

ford has come a long way with the mustang.

interior quality is acceptable,
ride is pretty good

car is pretty fast, when you look at 1/4 times and trap speed it's near 135 territory.
Also, the c&d lightning lap, while conditions are obviously different year to year, the mustang v6 this year just about matched the 135 around the track and it was bouncing of speed limiter at 115 for a decent part of the track.

You have to drive both though, to see what you like better. The mustang is bigger and will feel a lot bigger.

LOL @ guys that are saying I would drive a bmw over a ford....ridiculous statement. I don't go for branding I go for bang for my buck or something special. I'd drive an Accord over a 328I

The Mustang is a fine choice, I think. I'd have been seriously tempted to order a Mustang GT instead of the 135i if the former weren't such a boat. I like small cars.

The new Mustangs are supposed to be great, though.

Thanks for the responses... though im still equally confused.

Also the GT or the 135i are not wat im looking for as this car will be my daily driver and adhering to speed limits becomes an issue with 400 horses under the hood

Also budget constraints!

Anyone who has driven both and can enlighten me with the differences in driving of each car?

There are a lot of reasons to choose a 328i over an Accord besides brand if one is so inclined. I get really tired of this pompous and self-righteous assumption that everyone else driving a nice car is an ignoramus only interested in status. Quit projecting.

I would drive a BMW over a Ford any day. Not due to branding but due to quality. I test drive a lot of cars and there is no comparison in the quality of the two cars. The Mustang will beat the BMW in a straight line but that is where it ends.
Read any auto reviews of the 3 series and an Accord that you mentioned and the 3 series will win. Now if you move up to a Lexus you might get close. That is not branding my friend. But if you are happy that your Accord is better than a 3 series that all that matters
Bottom line is you are looking for “bang for the buck” and the Mustang or Accord would fit the bill well.
