Alpine White

Is there any way to give an Alpine White car that wet look like a you can get with a darker car?

I had a white 350z before my present black 328xi and no matter what i did it never really popped.

TIA

In my opinion you can get white looking very glossy and shinny. Will it ever be quite as good as black paint? Probably not, but you can do some impressive work with the right steps and product combos.

If you really want amazing results on white paint here is what I would use:

Clay Bar
DI Packages DI Gentle Fine Grade Clay Bar 100g & Clay Lube - deep clean the paint with a clay and lube combo.

Polish
Polish the paint to remove surface imperfections and create the optically clear clear coat. This is the most important step in my opinion.
Meguiar's Ultra Finishing Polish M205 - orange pad
Meguiar's Ultra-Cut Compound M105 - white pad
Menzerna Micro Finish (PO85RD Polish) - blue pad

Protection
Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Sealant - blue pad or by hand. This will protect the paint for months to come and make it look very shinny and glossy. To get that extra deep gloss and wet look wait an hour and apply a coat of the Dodo Juice Diamond White Hard Wax. It was specifically designed to make light colors like white paint look very deep and "wet". This wax should be applied by hand. Dodo Juice waxes are also well known for there very strong protection they provide.

If you have any questions about this process please let me know. We also offer 10% off with the coupon code 10offbmw1. Take care!

yea... I went and looked at a used 2010 135i today...18k on it and the paint just didn't seem to pop...(Alpine White) not too sure that the previous owner cared about the paint... how good is the paint on these cars? (meaning if the owner didnt wax etc took it to a car wash will i be able to rescue it?) no pictures but just some input would be nice since i have never dealt with paint from BMW before.

Thanks!

I was just going to post about this. Just did a complete detail of my AW 08, and really can't quite bring that gloss and shine out like on a black car. I'm happy with my results though. I used most of the products Greg listed, except the Microfinish and Dodo juice. I will buy that wax for next time.

I have found lots of people buy white cars so they don't have to do anything to the paint. They swirl the shit of it and you can't notice it unless you are up close with a light. I saw a 4 year old white car get a good 2 step machine polish followed by a coat of wax and the result were good. It didn't pop like a black car but it went from a dull, flat looking paint to a clean bright white that loooked good. You might be suprised with the results after doing a good polish and a seal/wax.

Here is a picture of the car when I bough it.
It was properly taken care of by the previous owner. I bought it with 5400 miles last October (It's a 2008), so I'm guessing it was a weekend ride. I drove it all winter though (and a trip to Florida), and just recently did my first detail. The paint was in very good condition to begin with, only a few minor scratches that you could hardly see.
