Mich PSS special

Tire rack has the Mich PSS on special 225/255 priced at 954.00. I pm'd Gill and he wasn't sure how long it will last. Was going to wait but this is a nice little price reduction. About covers shipping and mounting from the diff. I think they were about 1050ish prior.

Just dropped dime on a new set of shoes for the ride. Picked them up for 984.00. Still in disbelief that the PSS's are less than the PS2's. The RFT's are so low and really tramline and ride like crap....more like crap but it's been fun smoking them up now that Im now worried about tread life etc. I actually got over 13K and have a little more above the wear bar in the rear. Thats with allot of "spirited" driving, 130+ autobahn drives and a few trips to the ring.

Baller. My Conti DW's for the rear came in and my T/A KDW's are already on the stock rims for the track ready to go. They all got heatcycled so I don't have to wait for the coating to go away.

Hmmm I didn't realize there was a difference in pattern.
Do you order specific front an rear tyres? Or does the pattern changes once they reaches a bigger width .
I'm curious cuz 'i'll have mine in 255F & 275R on saterday

What passes for tires in the states is different than what is sold over here in DE. I have Michelin PS3's which are simular to PSS's but the thread pattern is different. But my fronts and rear tires have the same thread pattern. There are also suble differences within a tire manufactre like Michelin... I went with LX rated sidewalls - bc I wanted the stiffest sides walls possible since I was ditching my run flat tires for regular PS3's.

I checked two weeks ago on the price of 255's PS3's at my tire dealer... and they had them on special for 225 euros (w/o 19% tax). Normally they sell for around 280 euros w/o tax. I think we have another week or so before the tire prices skyrocket and everyone will change to summer tires.

The patterns the same it's just that the tires aren't lined up directly, same tread patterns I just stacked'ed up up for the pix. That and the wider tires have bigger/wider tread blocks. I did some research and the PS 3's are actually Mich's "Green" tire or Eco friendly if you will just like conti's and Yoko's have. The PSS's are the new tech replacement for the Mich PS2's.
Below is a side by side 225/255 with the tread patterns lined up....

I know the Michelin PSSs are fantastic tires but I also hear good things about the Hankook V12 and they're half the cost of a set of PSS. Are the Michelins really twice as good?

I do know the kooks are good to start but most claim they loose thier adhesion as they loose tread. Plus kook's are a third tier tire company if I remember, mich being a first tier. 2 areas I don't like to skimp on quality, brakes and tires.... this is not saying that the kooks aren't quality but I know the Mich's are.

I don't know about the Hankooks being a 3rd tier. DTM uses them as a tire sponsor.

Nothing specialthe 275's are not so stretched as the 265 do. + a little gain in surface contact is always a benefit . Some members here are running 285's in the rear. You could ask Rick, he ran 285's on the rear at Spa

I may be off but thats what I thought I read. They do make great track tires but we all know designated track tires are built to a whole differnt perameter.

i can vouch for the hankook v12's, i have them on the front and PS2's on the rear. I know its not good to have two totally different types of tires but i got a sweet deal on the PS2s, both tires brand new for $250. either way I ran 9:18 at the Ring with that set up on a stock suspension and I had to slow down for three accidents on my run, so in reality that is probably closer to a 8:50-9:00 run without the accidents. I like the v12's but I will be ordering the PSS's sometime after I take leave.
