SC/NC Roads and Cruise - BMW 1 Series Coupe Forum / 1 Series Convertible Forum (1M / tii / 135i / 128i / Coupe / Cabrio / Hatchback) (BMW E82 E88 128i 130i 135i)

Hey guys I've been e-mailing back and forth with Donnie Isley talking about great roads in the NC/SC area. We've also been talking about putting together a drive from the Performance Center in SC.

We thought we'd open up this thread to compile a list/maps of the roads, for those that can't make it, and or coordinate the meeting for the drive.

I think we're all motivated to head to the Blue Ridge mountains after reading his exciting 1M break in!

I can't wait for this to happen! I was just talking to my mom yesterday about Donnie's thread and how much we'd both love to make it up from Florida to go on this drive! I'd love it if it became a regional or even national meet like some car clubs do with the dragon (mini coopers and s2000s come to mind). Either way, if this happens count me in! I'll be driving my 2011 E82 135i and my mom will be in her 2011 E88 128i!

You guys come up with a date, and I will make it happen. My initial thought would be for an arrival on a Friday afternoon at the Performance Center. )If everyone wanted factory tour...perhaps that could be worked out. If so, then you would arrive that morning for an early afternoon tour.) If you have never toured our factory...you and your spouse would love it. A nice dinner downtown Greenville. Depart early Saturday for an all day drive thru the mountains of North Carolina with our final destination being in Asheville. The best time of year will be the 3rd week of October. The changing of the colors of the foliage is perfect! The downside to this time of year is that everyone and his brother are also touring the NC mountains. So....with what I think this group wants...I thought is to avoid this place that time of year. I can promise you all of these roads are to die for! We can include the Tail of the Dragon...only because everyone knows about it; however, I have many more just as good. Let me know how I can help.

Subscribing! I would love to do this, hopefully the dates will work out for me. Unfortunately, my car will be on the boat to Germany by the time October rolls around so I vote for sometime this summer. Count me in if its around the early-mid August timeframe. It sounds like this will be the premier event to be at if you are a 1addict (at least stateside).

Count me in Donnie! You instructed my delivery of my 135 in January 2010 and I live in Asheville. It is a no brainer to join this adventure even if I get to drive these roads any time I like!

Also, what options are available for driving a 1m at the Performance Center? Will they be part of M schools?

In depending on the date ... Donnie I am sure you don't remember me but I have met you a couple times at the BMWPC. You also led the group when I picked up my M3 at the PC.

The last week-end of July I will be in Bogota, Colombia for the Latin American M Power Tour. If this is the week-end you choose, I can set up everything from my end. I'll make it seemless for you.
