Just wonder how there GM will feel when they start paying intrest on the FloorPlan while they wait for there night is shining armour to come and buy the car, as opposed to seeling for MSRP within days of arrival at basically no holding cost.

If they set the pricetag for the black one at a sharp 105k the other will fly out the door imo

Not quite sure why this dealer is getting all the hate. They are in business to make as much money as absolutely possible. Good for them, I hope they get 75 for it by asking 95 and letting someone feel good by "saving" 20k with their mad negotiating skills. I'll sell my 9/30 PCD BSM for 65k if someone wants it.

Im 100% all for business making money...and good money at that..

On the other hand the gouging of this dealer in the hopes of getting an unsuspecting customer to pay anywhere near that asking price is just wrong. observers of the situiation shouldnt turn a blind eye..

Its along the lines of a building supplier 'all of a sudden" asking 100.00 for a sheet of plywood in an area where a storm just did some major damage.

It just my personal feeling on the matter ..

Definitely no hard feelings, but I believe in supply and demand, even in the plywood situation. If plywood dealers are forced to keep their prices low, then some jack weed will come in and buy all the plywood and hoard it. If the price is allowed to rise with demand, then the people that REALLY need it will pony up the cash and buy just what the absolutely need. If they jack the price up too high then no one will buy it. If the price is set perfectly then they will sell their last piece of plywood just as the storm is passing over.

We won't know if the pacific BMW price is correct until the storm of demand for this car has passed and only then if we can find out how much it sold for. But to think that the cost of holding out for a higher price is going to end up costing pacific BMW more than it makes in profit (even if they sell it at MSRP+2500) is silly at best.

absolutley none taken, actually good conversation.

You make a solid argument with the plywood.. BUT the storm that this car is in is very spotty and not very wide spread.. dozens and dozens into the hundreds so far, of theses cars are being sold at MSRP ( or ther abouts plus or minus the dealer add ons of paint protection etc etc ) all over the country. Its just this one localized "jack weed" to use your term, has determined that his poo, is better and more expensive then the next dealers poo, and as far as i can see and read from all the posts of how much people are getting there cars at, hes the outcast. He is praying on the fact that an unsuspecting person walk in, and they sell him / her on the fact that the car is unobtanium.... sure let the buyer beware, but like i said that doesnt mean bystanders cant try to save the unspspecting person.

as far as the profit statement i made with the holding costs.. of course not, you are correct, i should have stated that the dealer would have made more profit if sold at MSRP quickly then holding out and not getting his premium and eventually selling at MSRP at a later date.. although i agree thats a stretch..

The dealer does seem to be pretty straight forward though. The sticker clearly states dealer markup and I would hope that anyone who can spend 95k on a car would either be smart enough to realize that or have so much money that is doesn't matter. Either way, big profit for the dealer that I hope gets passed along to the salesman lucky enough to hook the whale.

There are far more dubious tactics that go on in dealerships that sell Corrolas and Civics to the truly unsuspecting / uneducated. These are the slime balls that I would like to see get hung up by their toenails.

AGREED..

If the dealer is going thru all this to set the price so high, no way is he gonna pass that off to the salesman.. 20 - 25% of the gross profit on this car is a ton of money if sold at 95k.. dealer aint gonna let that walk out the door on a salesmans back... I bet there is a pre-determined flat for anything above MSRP

Well, you cant say that the dealer doesnt have a plan........I dont really think it is a good one, but none the less, its a plan...

Its like Musical chairs... he may just get caught without a chair when the music stops..

Thanks for sharing.. that was humorous

I guess BMWNA Corporate wouldn't have any say on obsurd markups like this on their cars in dealers like this? Interesting to see if this has been complained about to them (BMWNA) - which I highly doubt that it matters as long as that dealer is paying the costs for holding the car on their dealer, but still..

No one who has or does deal with Pacific would be surprised. This is totally on par for them.

A 1M just sold for $11K over MSRP today in South FL. And...it is not even in the showroom. Confirmed for August delivery! Unbelieveable!
