Gun-metal or polished wheels on Graphite?

So, I'm going to pull the trigger on Tuesday with Mod-bargains and get the 20" M6 reps for my 550 - I'm debating between polished or gun-metal...I know this is personal taste - I'm leaning to gun-metal, but just figured I'll check on general consensus...

+1, I think gun metal is too much grey on this car. It's a very dark color as it is, I think some of the stock glossy trim (turn signal, grill, etc) and wheels that are more silver pop nicely on this color.

I would go with the Silver instead of the gunmetal. I didn't like the look of the gunmetal because I like the look of clean, bright wheels. Also, the gunmetal darker color on inside of the wheels makes the spokes look smaller, while all silver makes the spokes look bigger and also are different from the original M6 wheels. Check out my car on the **********s webside.

I was on this same spot few months ago and decided against the gunmetal. I t might seem too monotone, so I went with silver (diamond cut to be exact.)

here's an idea

http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=518577

by the way, I have covered the sidemarker and chrome fender trims with gray vinyl that's close to the color of the car, I think it looks cleaner. I'll post pics later.

enjoy!

I have Sophisto Grey and gunmetal Forgestar F14. Too much grey and the wheels get lost looking from afar. I am replacing them with some brushed silver wheels in about 2 weeks

Thanks guys for the awesome feed back...
@Evolve - your car looks great - I think I'm going for the same - sending you PM...
@mlai - that's what sold me - your car looks good, but the beautiful F14's just seem lost.
I'm going with the 20" polished Forgestars + H&R springs...just got to change my driving habits around the brutal pot-holes in Chi-town....

And thanks to you for all your insight into the weight of the 356's - that was also an option for me, but not anymore

That's going to look awesome. I wussed out going too low and opted out for ACS. I was going to go Eibach, but apparently they're not being sold in the US yet. I kept arguing and showing people pictures of mlai's car..."SEE!! THEY EXIST AND I WANT THEM"

Eager to see how yours turns out!

You're going to regret going with the H&Rs unless you want the front of the car REALLY low. Mine was way too low and the ride was way too bouncy with adaptive drive, so I went with the RDs. My next car, I'm going to try the ACS.

i wonder if the adaptivedrive made the car too low? i dont have adaptive drive and i think my h&r's are too tall. i'm also planning on the AC, RD is too expensive, for me at least.

It's not the adaptive drive -- it's the extra 400 pounds of the V8 engine.

Hi Seattle

Have you installed your wheels and H&R? I also live in Chicago. Just got my 535i. I am thinking about doing the same set up, but after reading a few reviews, I am not so sure how about the drop height of H&R and leaning more towards Coilover. Do you have any pictures to show? Thanks in advance.

Not yet - still waiting on ACS springs - ordered them about 4 weeks ago and there was a 6 week back-order - so, hopefully should be here in about 2 weeks - I'll let you know when they in...
