OP - couldn't you use the BMW Performance Exhaust and install your black chrome OE tips onto the PE system? I thought I saw a photo of someone doing that before?

Did you buy the Berk exhaust coated with ceramic? I decided I will take the plunge next week.

OP,

Here's more or less what the BT Street Perf. Exhaust sounds like with Raceland Catless DP's and N55 Catless mids. Please forgive my recording ability.......

Marvin, what are you leaning towards?

I saw the CP-E last night and the black tips closely resemble the stock look. The fitment is insanely good!

Just had it installed today! The sound is great...lower tone versus stock at start up and definitely louder with lower tone during acceleration. Hope the link works...I forgot I had this youtube account.

That video works. The exhaust note doesn't seem very loud in the video. What do you think about it when you drive it around? How do you like it?

Yeah, I f'd up the sound on the vid during editing in iMovie. The Berk exhaust is just as loud as stock during start up, but it is definitely louder during acceleration with a nice deep tone. Not ricey (decibels and tone) at all but just exotic enough to turn heads. I'm assuming you can increase the decibels tremendously by adding the resonated mid pipes and/or down pipes. the Berk axle back is loud enough for me since I was looking for deeper tone...i'm going to spend the money on an FMIC instead.

There's definitely a thread where someone installed the black tips on a PE. It involves cutting the PE exhaust tips. PE tips are straight cut and stock is slant cut. I planned on doing this until I saw the PE tips on the car. The polished tips reflect the black defuser and don't look completely out of place. In fact the straight cut looks pretty awesome IMO. An alternative is to get some 3" stainess exhaust tips with rolled edge and cut them down to 5" in length. They will slide over the PE tips. Just rough up the stainless and paint them with black flame-proof spray paint. Make sure to bake according to instructions. I did this in a regular household over. Keep the windows open--it will smell while baking. It has ceramic in the paint and is super durible once baked. It's not chrome but a nice mat black finish. I rolled high temp gasket material around the PE tips and snugged the black tips over the gasket material. With this approach, you can have black or polished tips depending on your mood. After a couple weeks going back-and-forth, I've decided the polished tips look the best. I never thought I'd say this, but the black chrome looks cheap to me know. Who would of thought? And to put it in perspective, I have all shadow line trim and black rims.

Do you have any pictures of the system fitted? How is the fitment? I'm curious to see it on the car. Thanks!

I had a local shop install (WSTO) so I do not have any pics from under the car. Bolt on to stock so fitment was not an issue...Looks great though and it really sounds great compared to stock. I can load a pick later but it will be side and back view only. it's loud enough for me but I bet if you add the resonated mid pipes to the axle back the decibel level will increase dramatically.

OK...here are some quick pics with the iPhone, sorry did not feel like getting the D90 out. Hope they help...I love this axle back.

Yes, they helped a lot. I've pretty much made up my mind; this exhaust has everything I'm looking for. Thanks!

Where did you buy from?

Julius at WSTO hooked me up and they also did the install since I am local. Give him call. I also bought an FMIC from them and install is Friday.
