Front Driver Side rubbing, please help
Hi All,
Ive just got my new Forgestar CF5 + Michelin Pilot Super Sport installed, specs: Front: 8.5 offset: 40, 235/40/18, ground to top of fender arch ~25. M3 front Control Arms installed and the last time I did my alignment w/ the M3 arms, I've got -1.3degree camber, lowered with KW V3. Rear: 9.5 offset: 62, 265/35/18, ground to top of fender arch ~26 The rear fits just fine with room to spare, I can probably go 275 tire if I want to. However, the front Driver side is rubbing, I think its against the bumper-fender tab. Everytime I go over a small to medium bump I hear rubbing sound. How do I fix this? Will raising the front up to ~26 help? Or do I need camber plates? Oh, does fatter tires reduce camber? coz the front tires doesn't look like it has as much camber as before, it looks almost like the new front wheels/tires are perpendicular to the ground. Or maybe it's just an optical illusion? Thanks in advance! ![]() The wheels look AWESOME tho ![]() ![]() |

235/40/18 will rub. i used to rub too. and my fenders were rolled and pulled. its the plastic tab that connects the fender and the bumper. just the way it is and i dealt with it.

I recently installed 225/40/18 hankook r-s3 on stock 18" M rim (this tire's edge looks pretty square to me).
I have H&R sport suspension so my front is pretty low. With 10mm spacer, I think I rubbed that same spot. Few days after, I got Vorshlag camber plate and set alignment to following spec ![]() I now have 12mm spacer on the front on stock wheel and r-s3 and seems like I am no longer rubbing.

hmm, I thought et40 would be fine for 235/40/18 tires... a lot of people has claim their setup doesn't rub. does fitment varies from car to car? or just a matter of how big the drop?

Raised the front of the car up by 0.25" and it doesn't rub over the same bumps as before.
But the freaking tire shop didn't balance my tires correctly.... I drove on the freeway at 70-80mph, and the steering wheel vibrates like MAD... have to go back to the shop tomorrow. This sucks! |
