Hopefully he/she won't have software as well.

Wouldn't mind either way tbh.. Would still make for an interesting comparison I reckon..
Let's not forget the 1M won't get the same gains from software.. Still want one though.. lol

I actually fooled around with a 1M recently but I'll be honest, it wasn't a fair race as I have bolt ons and I am assuming he was stock. The guy was being all cocky and thinking just because its a 1M it was going to destroy my lowly 135i, but lol...

Not my video, but the outcome was the same for me as I have similar mods.

Me too. I'll happily concede the drag race and offer to go to the track. The drag race results wouldn't make me want a DCT either way.

1M has a 46 hp and 71 lb-ft advantage over a 135 with the N54. The DCT can not make up for this difference in engine performance.
How did you arrive at that conclusion? I believe that is the question to which this thread is devoted.

agreed. I could care less if dct, dsg; etc are faster by .5 seconds. My sports cars will always be manual. My DD can be auto. But I could care less if its dct or older stepronic. My GTI is dsg, yes it shifts very fast but i don't care. For my DD it doesn't matter how much quicker it shifts.

The numbers were based on Edmund's dyno results.
http://www.bimmerfile.com/2011/05/26...rs/#more-12643

Conclusion is based off of vehicles of similar weight with one having a 16% hp and 24% torque advantage and larger tires.

What's your conclusion?

My conclusion is that you cannot accurately predict whether the advantage of quicker shifting with the DCT can offset the torque advantage that the 1M has. That is what this thread is about,

but all the comparisons have been 1m vs. Modded 135. So obviously the 135 should win in a straight line regardless of transmission choice. We can't make a conclusion until someone with a stock 135i dsg races a stock 1M.

Yawn(to street race stories). Also, you are going to assume to know what the 1M driver was thinking? Cocky? I doubt he was thinking you were driving a 'lowly 135' like you said. That sounds more like a bit of insecurity on your part..... just saying.

So the '1M vs. FILL IN THE BLANK' threads have begun...wooohooo!

All I know is my 1M will have my JB4 installed within 30 minutes after getting it back from the break-in oil change.

I also happen to have a stealthy meth kit laying around.....

Revving at me for no reason doesn't constitute a cocky persona? I'm just minding my own business when that prick wanted to go at it, so I obliged and put him in his place. Please don't try to defend other owners for their actions. He was cocky and I put him in his place, end of story.

Just curious, let's say he had beaten you, would that mean he put you in your place and is allowed to be cocky to you?

Yeah, if I was the douchebag revving at him and trying to provoke him into a race, sure enough I agree. But alas, that wasn't the case.

He didn't even look at your car and didn't seem to be racing, much less cocky....I don't think he cared at all based on your video. Quite frankly, I think only you knew you were racing

It looked like he was out for a Sunday stroll, then moved to right lane when some douche was on his ass. If he was really racing, then why would he move to the right after passing the truck.

It definitely did not look like the 1M driver even tried to race.
