Here is a link to an article that may be helpful:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4614761_prog...er-remote.html If you know the brand of your garage door opener and google something like "programming a genie garage door opener" you may get more specific directions. Basically you push a button or probe an opening with a paperclip and then run to the remote and push it. You have about 30 seconds to get to the opener. Jim

If you have the "other" type of garage door it can be a little tricky. A lot of trial and error. You need 2 people to do it.

I have a newer model motor on my door, and it has a security feature in that it cannot learn a new remote unless you climb up there with a ladder and press a button on the side of the unit first. I didn't know this, but when I tried to program the remote I called the number from the manual and they told me exactly what to do.

For some reason I can't get my non rolling code garage door opener to program on my 135i. I've never had a problem getting it to work on other vehicles with homelink. I've even cleared the system twice.

Call them. They're quite helpful, and the instructions say to call them if you have a problem setting it up.

This is a link to a short version of programming a LiftMaster:
http://www.liftmaster.com/consumerweb/service/faq It seems the button location varies some but will be on the back or right side, potentially under a cover over the light. Because of the need to use a ladder to reach this button, I have found it handy in the past to have two people. This is a link to the homelink video. I think the last minute and a half are worth watching (first minute is a commercial). The last bit is the same process described above in this thread. There is a chance you can program the homelink off a remote for the opener, however, that is about a minute into the video and may be worth trying first. http://www.homelink.com/program_video.php This older thread is worth reviewing too. Most of the problems seem to be with gate systems but the point about the car having to run for homelink to work seems worth knowing: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...light=homelink Jim
